On wikipedia they refer to it a a "threequel" but if you ask me, that's just a stupid excuse just to make Godfather II seem more unique.

Why wouldn't Goldfinger be considered a sequel? The books weren't written in the order of the movies, granted, but is chronological sequence required to be considered a sequel?

For example, I consider prequels a TYPE of sequel.

I liked From russia with Love more than Goldfinger.

Goldfinger was the third anyway in the bond films...well so was The Bourne Ultimatum...i guess they are putting second sequels in there as well??...then why isn't return of the king or, two towers in there? oh well..

Did you actually read the article? They didn't include sequels that were filmed along with the original. They consider Lord of the Rings 1 long movie, divided into 3 releases, which makes sense. The same goes for Kill Bill.

I don't get the Spider-Man 2 love. I felt like it was the plot from Spider-Man all over again with a new villian inserted in.

But I like all the other choices

"Threequel" is an imaginary word, like "stinkification" or "canklizer." So in that light, Return of the King is no less qualified to be called a sequel that won a best picture Oscar than Godfather II is to be called the Italianest movie every to finkle a Goldnude.

The Godfather II is an overrated sequel, IMO. The first was better.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day is the second best sequel, after TDK of course, ever made. Empire Strikes Back takes third on my list.

X2 needs to be higher and SM2 lower. Other than that great list.
