I think the thread title is self-explanatory. Here are my selections, with a few minutes of thought:

WB/DC:
1) Batman/Joker/Dent in the tunnel, ending with Batman barely deciding to not kill Joker (TDK);
2) Bane breaking Batman's back (TDKR);
3) Superman vs Faora (MoS)

Marvel:
1) Elevator fight (TWS);
2) Prison break (GoTG);
3) Highway fight with winter soldier and black widow (TWS)

Fox:
1) Sebastian Shaw / Magneto climax showdown (X-Men: FC);
2) Fights with future sentinels (DoFP);
3) Prison break with quicksilver (DoFP);

Sony:
No action scenes worthy of mention.

Honourable mention:
All of the action scenes in Snowpiercer.

First, great thread !

These aren't in order, the numbers don't indicate I think that one is
better than the others.

WB/DC

1) Man of Steel: The battle of Smallville sequence

2) The Dark Knight: the Pruitt Building hostage crisis showdown with the Joker.

3) The Dark Knight: Hong Kong sequence.

(and not a CBM but every scene in Mad Max, Fury Road).

Marvel
1) Iron Man, escape from the terrorist cave. (sure, not the slickest action sequence but plenty of tension, emotion and very satisfying).

2) The Avengers final battle with the Chitauri ( I didn't think that much of Avengers, but I have to acknowledge a great action sequence when I see one ! )

3) Guardians of the Galaxy: lots to choose from ....Prison Break, Knowhere pod chase, the final battle ....ummm I'll go with the final battle. Definitely my favourite Marvel film !

Honourable mention to the Elevator fight from TWS and Hulk vs Hulkbuster from Age of Ultron.

Sony

1) Spider Man 2: Battle on the train with Doc Ock

2) Spider Man 3: Final showdown with Venom, just for the shout-out to the comics.

3) Spider Man 3: brutal fight scene between Peter and Harry

Fox

1) Quicksilver sequence in DOFP

2) Nightcrawler attacks the White House in X2

3) The Cuban missile crisis battle in X-Men First Class

Honourable mention:

Kick Ass: Hit Girl vs everyone !

WB/DC:
1) Smallville fight (MoS)
2) The Pruitt Building hostage crisis showdown with the Joker.(TDK)
3) Bane vs Bane

Fox
1) Nightcrawler White house sequence (X-2)
2) Quicksilver Pentagon sequence (DoFP)
3) DofP opening battle.

Sony:
1) Doc Ock vs Spider man. All of them (SM2)
2) SM vs Green Goblin (SM1)
3) SM vs Lizard High school fight (TASM)

Marvel:
1) Cap vs Bucky highway fight (CA:TWS)
2) Protecting the Core (AoU)
3) Hulk vs Veronica (AoU)

IMO Fox's action scenes don't really stand out. WB, Sony and Marvel have really elevated the action scenes in their cbms and Fox is still lagging behind.

WB/DC:
1) Batman vs the SWAT Team and criminals (TDK)
2) Prison van and Tumbler/Batpod chase (TDK)
3) Batman vs Bane - 2nd fight (TDKR)

Marvel:
1) Battle of New York (Avengers)
2) Battle of Jotunheim (Thor)
3) Prison Break (GoTG)

Fox:
1) Quicksilver scene (DoFP)
2) Wolverine vs Lady Deathstrike (X2)
3) Opening battle sequence (DoFP)

  1. Superman vs Kryptonians
  2. Batman & Catwoman vs Bane Soldiers

  2. Cap vs Hydra in the elevator
  3. Avengers vs Chitauri

Moments I have fun watching:
  1. Spider-Man saves cop from cop car in Times Square

Sony:
No action scenes worthy of mention.
Wut?

Yeah, those two probably should have been on my list, I mean in today's world of CGI not many directors flip trucks for real ( except maybe George Miller ! )

I thought Lady Deathstrike was the most underused villain of all the X-films - she's kind of the Darth Maul of superhero movies, really cool and badass, but only really shows up briefly, looks really menacing ....and then gets killed.
Wish they hadn't crammed her into X2, she would have been an amazing villain if they'd put her in The Wolverine movie.

To be honest, other than the Quicksilver scene I didn't find the action in DOFP terribly memorable.

The train scene in Spider-man 2 is worthy of mentioning than the majority of your picks.

Agreed, but I still enjoyed the opening battle sequence. We got to see an Avengers-esque X-Men team with them using their powers to complement each other, which was pretty cool. It was also nice for the focus to not be on Wolverine for once.

It was pretty focused on Wolverine. The person who went back in time in the original story was Kitty and it was, of course, changed for the movie to be Wolverine. It's like they just can't make an X-Men movie that doesn't revolve around him.

I was talking specifically about the opening battle sequence of DoFP, which didn't feature Logan.

MCU
1.Battle of NY

2. TDK Bike Chase Scene
3. Bane vs Batman

Yeah, that's true, back in the day the key feature of the Xmen was that because they pretty much only had one superpower each they had to use them in concert, as a team.

I guess we saw a bit of that in the opening sequence - it's just that there was no tension because the Sentinels were so overpowered, there was no suggestion at all that the X-Men could win, or even that any of them would survive - so rather than a heroic last stand it was just a slaughter ( which is why I found the final battle so unsatisfying, but that's just IMO)>

Still, I agree the teamwork aspect was good, and it was good to have the focus off Wolverine. In fact part of the reason first class is so great is because he isn't in it - not that he's not a good character, but I'm not keen on him as the de facto main character of the X-movies (although I like the focus on Professor X in First Class and DOFP, about damn time !)

Having said that, I just learned that Wolvie is dead at the moment - hope he's back soon.

Some others nobody's mentioned

The helicarrier attack in The Avengers
Rocket, Star Lord, and Gamora's first encounter

Agreed. I think best action scene of all was from them. Train fight in Spider-Man 2.

Remains amongst the best ever

It didn't revolve around him. Xavier was the focal character.

1. There wasn't a Kitty Pryde in the 70s to go back in time so it couldn't do that, but it featured her to keep her apart of it.

2. Who else could've gone back? Beast was dead and the rest were either not born yet (Iceman, Rogue, New Mutants ect) or key to the events (Magneto/Xavier). Wolverine was the only character available in the seventies who was also outside of the events and this usable

Wolverine's the lynch pin. Everything depends on him. He's in most of the scenes. It's his idea to bring Quicksilver into the fold to help bust out Magneto. It's his burden to convince Charles. The whole plot is perched on his shoulders. He does one thing wrong, the whole plan collapses.

The comics used the present as the past, where as the movie chose to use the present as the future. They didn't have to. They could have easily had Kitty's mind from 2030 or something go back to 2013's Kitty's body. Instead they had 2013's Wolverine go back to the 70's. That pretty much makes him the most important character in the movie.

Actually, someone involved the events makes much more sense. Not that it matters, because Wolverine heroically announces how he's the only one who can do it.

None of this was a coincidence. It's FOX milking the Wolverine cow, because, hey, money!

MCU

1. All of TWS. But the Elevator Scene beats out the Final Battle)
2. Battle of NY in Avengers
3. Iron Man vs. the Ten Rings

Fox/X-Men

1. Wolverine vs. Stryker's soldiers
2. Nightcrawler at the White House
3. Wolverine vs. Deathstrike

Sony

1. Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock on the Train
2. Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin in Spider-Man 1
3. Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock at the Bank

WB/DC

1. Batman vs. Gotham PD in Begins
2. Batman vs. Joker Batcycle
3. Batman vs. SWAT and Joker's Goons in TDK

No one here thinks of the final fight in Spider-Man 3, that thing is grand.

Personally, I thought the giant sandman bit kind of dumb, but the Spidey vs Venom final fight was pretty good - I liked the shout out to the source material with how Spidey beat him with the vibrating pipes.

I also thought that Harry's self-sacrifice was a nice touch, as it resolved the love triangle and all the friendship issues.

WB:

1. Final Batman vs. Joker, with the ferries rigged to blow (The Dark Knight)
2. Batman vs. Ra's al Ghul on the speedline (Batman Begins)
3. Superman catching the falling airplane with Lois (Superman Returns)

Marvel:

1. Battle of New York (The Avengers)
2. Captain America, Black Widow, STRIKE rescuing hostages on Lemurian Star (CA:TWS)
3. Thor vs. Loki, resulting in Loki falling into the abyss (Thor...so much emotion!)

Fox:

1. Nightcrawler's attack in the White House (X2: X-Men United)
2. Wolverine vs. Deathstrike (X2: X-Men United)
3. Battle at Jean Grey's house (X-Men: The Last Stand)

Sony:

1. Spider-Man vs. Dr. Octopus atop the train (Spider-Man 2)
2. Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin, ending with GG's death by glider (Spider-Man 1)
3. Spider-Man & New Goblin vs. Venom & Sandman (Spider-Man 3)
