Seeing as Top Boy got picked up by Netflix I thought it was time to make a thread.

The show debuted in 2011 and ran for two seasons. After it was cancelled by channel 4 rapper/actor Drake brought the rights and sold it to Netflix who green lighted a third season. Drake will produce the show for Netflix alongside LeBron James' production company Springhill Entertainment

synopsis
Set on the fictional Summerhouse housing estate in Hackney, East London, the series follows the lives of a group of people involved in drug dealing and street gangs.

Season one follows the plight of Ra'Nell as he navigates the pitfalls of living in a crime-filled area after his mother, Lisa, is admitted to a mental hospital. The story also follows the rise of local drug dealers Dushane and Sully, and the tough decisions they must make to stay alive and in business.

Season 2 continues with the police uncovering a body, Dushane must deal with the repercussions while also attempting to stay ahead of Sully, his one-time friend turned rival. Meanwhile, Ra'Nell's mother attempts to rebuild her life, and Gem tries to enlist Ra'Nell's help in combating a new threat. Series Two also introduces Jason, an abused youth who attempts to survive in a world corrupted by violence and drugs.

“The third season picks up as Dushane (original star Ashley Walters) returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market. He teams with Sully (Kane “Kano” Robinson), his spiritual brother, partner, and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile — prison — comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie, the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.”
Hopefully the show will find a new larger audience like fellow channel 4 cast off Black Mirror did.

The first two seasons was often compared to The Wire. It featured a number of British rappers/grime stars in prominent roles such as the two leads Kano and Ashley Walters.

Other cast members included Bashy (The Night Of, 24 and Black Mirror), Leticia Wright (Shuri in Marvel's Black Panther), Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders, The Revenant and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, The Martian and Sunshine).

Drake will return to acting and have a have a prominent role in season 3.

This is a great, under the radar crime drama series. I love how gritty it is, and Season 3 is just beyond epic. Bring on Season 4.
