Yeah, he's in rather bad shape, and here's how he's sounding these days:

I don't know how much of a role he could realistically have in the film, given that they would have to dub him, unless they were keeping him as he does sound but suggesting that he's dying (and therefore is the one in the coffin).

    That's probably for the best.

I may be alone in this but I prefer the second one. I love how they just made it as silly as possible. I highly recommend the Key & Peele sketch about it if you haven't seen it. :D

I didn't even know about Val's throat cancer until y'all mentioned it and I googled him. Huh.

Both Gremlins movies are great. They're just two very different films based on the same idea. Kind of like Alien and Aliens.

That did what I wanted from a modern Top Gun trailer.

Is there a way to inject this straight into my veins? I am so ready for this.

Speculation time. I would bet that in the first trailer when Maverick is low over the desert and pulls hard vertical that he again broke the hard deck. Only now since he is the Captain getting a mission ready the lesson to his students he blew through was there are no rules in combat

What year is this movie set? If it's set in present day, shouldn't Goose's son be like 34?

Top Gun wasn't for nuggets out of flight school but veteran pilots getting ready to be the training officers for their squadrons, even if the original made it seem like the true purpose was to win the Top Gun trophy for the honor of your squadron.. In any case the second trailer makes it look like the Navy is bringing Maverick in to prep a flight for some special mission, not just run a normal Top Gun class.

Seems the sweet spot to have made this movie would've been 10 years ago.

Early to mid 30s seems in the ballpark, assuming the story was about a son of Goose getting a shot a Fighter Weapons School. Especially if he were not a 20 year old college graduate who went straight to flight training. Figure about 8 years to get through initial flight training and his first squadron deployments and that puts you near 30 years of age as you attend the school to get ready for higher responsibilities. Any delay at the start, like enlisted service joining up just because of 9/11 or deciding at the last opportunity before he aged out to become a Naval Aviator and we have 34 year old LT Baby Goose instead of Lieutenant Commander

Kosinski has an eye for great visuals and gets good performances out of his actors. Let's just hope the story is up to par on this one. Oblivion and Tron Legacy had script issues. Not totally his fault but I think both films had a chance to be better than they were.

I just rewatched the original. I’m not sure if this sequel will truly be able to emulate the feel of that film unless Tom Cruise regrows his unibrow.

I would add Burt Reynolds and Kurt Russell to the list.

A bit late to this but fantastic trailer. It's skyrocketed by interest from a 3 to a an 8.

Reynolds for sure. Russell too, though I don't typically think of him as having one. But yeah, he does pull it off.

I don't like mustaches in general, but Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott look better with than without. Burt Reynolds and Clark Gable definitely pulled it off, Kurt Russell can pull one off. William H. Macy, though tbh he's a little goofy-looking either way. Gary Oldman looks alright with the Gordon 'stache.

So we're saying that Tom Cruise shouldn't have one for Top Gun then? :o

To be honest, that’s always what I thought an older Maverick would age into.
