Agreed...while I wouldn't call it the best film of 1997, it's certainly one of the best from that year. I never understood all the hate surrounding Titanic. Yes there is cheesy romance mixed in with some cringe-worthy acting and is also very long, but it's such a well-told, suspenseful and gripping story. And a great period piece too. One of my favourite films of that year.

Nothing else mattered that year.

Princess Mononoke was great and so was, though as a bit of a guilty pleasure, Starship Troopers. The Ice Storm was good and overlooked.

Not real fond of Air Force One, LA Confidential or Men in Black though.

Anastasia

I always laugh when I hear people say it’s one of their favorite Disney movies...

Truly underrated 1997 movie IMO.........

Agreed, this is one of my favourite thrillers of all-time. It's sadly a very rarely-mentioned film in Kurt Russell's filmography. And you can always count on the late J.T Walsh delivering in these sinister villain roles that he was so well known for.

Why do they think everything animated is "disney" is it cause Disney established animation?

It’s not that people think “everything” is Disney so much as they think pretty much every quality animated film is Disney or Pixar. Just the other day my sister called ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ a Disney film and I immediately had to correct that lol.

Top five in no particular order...

Chasing Amy
Good Will Hunting
Hercules
Con Air
Face/Off
