World Tower of Pisa scene in S3

I've been scratching my head over this one and have zoomed in, frame by frame but I can't make out the hand gesture that evil Superman gives to the Pisa vendors.

It almost looks like he's giving the bird but I don't see how DC comics would've allowed this, can someone shed some light on this one?

The funny thing is that the Italian street patron says f**k you (in Italian) to Superman! In a childrens movie?!!
