Animation Toy Story 5

"Letting moments breathe" = "Stretching twenty minutes of story over two hours"

Andrew Stanton as director gives me hope.
I mean, he’s one of the original founding members, has been involved in some form in pretty much every single film they’ve done and directed Finding Nemo and WALL-E, which are top-tier, cream-of-the-crop, quintessential Pixar.

This film is in very great hands.

I questioned the need for TS 3, but it turned out to be the perfect send off for the toys imo.
I certainly questioned the need for TS 4 and even though it was ok, I still don't think it was needed.
I am definitely questioning the need for TS 5, but will I be there to see it on opening weekend? You're damn right.

I still fail to see the point of the end of 4 if Woody is just back with the old gang, unless this is set in between 3 and 4 which is a bit of a cop out.

The Woody question is my trepidation. I mean, I know they wouldn’t make a Toy Story without Tom Hanks/Woody. But his story seems to be finished in this series.

Unless it truly is just a cameo/flashback?

Bit outside my age range, but considering the franchise in question, it seems relevant…

They mention the first film’s 30th anniversary as well as the eventual fifth movie, though I can’t imagine that their output would be that different between the two.

Toy Story is one of those evergreen franchises that will always sell merchandise as long as toy aisles still exist.

It makes sense. She's pretty much the third most popular character after Woody and Buzz and she was basically a background character in 4.
That struck me too, and is partly the reason I don’t mind a fifth movie, even after the finality of 4. **** even Buzz took the backseat a little bit. It was basically the Woody/Bo/newbies movie with occasional guest appearances from the long-timers.

It might also have to do with the fact that Tom Hanks (68) and Tim Allen (71) both sound much older now. Joan Cusack is only 62 and her voice hasn't changed as much, so she can have more lines and carry more weight in the storyline.

I don’t know, maybe I need to watch the first and 4 back to back or something, but I really don’t think those guys sound hugely different than they used to.

Hanks doesn't sound too different but Allen's voice noticeably aged in 3 and especially 4. Though I can't imagine them sounding significantly older in 5 since it hasn't been that long since the last movie.
