Well this is sad, Chester, the lead singer of Linkin Park has died.

    http://popculture.com/celebrity/2017/07/20/linkin-park-suicide-singer-chester-bennington/

Linkin Park was pretty much the first band I became a fan of, and it was because of their involvement in the Transformers films. Overall I feel like the musical style of Imagine Dragons and X-Ambassators fits better with the Transformers brand, but I will admit that Linknin Park has many great songs, and I still find myself listening to them quite often. Their band will always hold a special place in my heart.

Back in 2015 when this "Transformers Cinematic Universe" was announced I figured it would never get off the ground, and it looks like two years later I have been proven right. I'm certainly not happy though, Transformers is one of my favorite franchises and I was hoping things would take a turn for the better with the writers room and all; unfortunately it looks like it's sunk even lower at this point.

Ah, well. Hopefully that Bumblebee flick is fun.

So much for these writers rooms being "successful" without any actual results or output.

Also I feel like that article was missing a paragraph or the second part of Lorenzo diBonaventura's quote. He never actually said it was disbanded or why it was disbanded. It just seemed like some information is missing there.

The Last Knight actually had some good ideas, the execution of them was the problem. I think the script seemed okay before Bay got his hands on it.

That and, letting Hasbro actually having input on the script didn't help matters either.

I'll be honest, that surprises me. As the Transformers were barely in this.

I completely forgot that Hasbro had a bigger hand in making this one.

What are the chances it gets released in theaters at all?

I'm beginning to think the franchise won't make it that far. Even if the Bumblebee movie is good, it may not make a lot after TLK, not to mention it's being released on the weekend before Christmas, when people will probably be pretty busy.

    We shall see about that.

The new direction for Terminator Genisys didn't really work out.

I watched this over the weekend for the first time. And I did it in three sittings. Thank God I did because I don't know how I would have been able to watch this in theaters and not lose my mind. This was the second shortest one but it somehow felt like a race, a race that I quickly couldn't keep up with. I felt like David Bowman in 2001 going through the starchild sequence.

    Madness. Utter madness.

So, I don't mean to be that guy but I just wanna give some thoughts on this movie.

I really liked the first film and even though they have all been progressively worse each sequel they have all at least been watchable, but I haven't seen The Last Knight yet.
While browsing youtube I ended up watching 2 different scenes (out of context I might add). One of them is Megatron talking with the military getting his comrades out of "jail" and the other one was a bunch of autobots (Bumblebee, Grimlock, a samurai and someone voiced by Steve Buscemi) at a junkyard with Grimlock trying to eat a police car.

What the hell has happened with these movies? Has Bay totally lost it and decided to make them into parodies? After seeing those 2 scenes I will never in my life watch the entire movie. It's really sad because the first one is actually a really decent action movie.

It really did seem to take FOREVER to get where it was going. About the only thing I really discovered watching this film is that a Transformers movie with next to no Optimus really isn't a Transformers movie worth watching.

They're basically stuck on being commercials, the Iron Man writers aren't as good as we remember them (even though most of that movie was improv), and this attempt at lore couldn't be more dumb.

I'm honestly looking forward to seeing what someone can do with these films when they get them out from under Bay's thumb. If they manage to get someone who actually cares about the property, maybe we can get a real Transformers film. We need someone that grew up with the cartoon... someone that cried when Optimus died in the REAL Transformers movie. That's the only real prayer we've got at this point I think.

Hoping for the best with Travis Knight. Still can't believe they managed to sign him. Still can't believe he's willing to do it.

This is his first stab at live action isn't it? I love everything he's done. The stop animation process is simply fascinating and beautiful. I just wish it was something other than Bumblebee. I've never been big on the character, even in the cartoon. We'll just have to hope he pulls a Brad Bird and knocks it out of the park.

Honestly wasn't such a big fan of the Mission Impossible franchise after MI:3 which I thought was okay mainly for Seymour-Hoffman playing an awesome, slimy villain. But Bird definitely hit it out of the park with that movie.

Plus, look at the Fast/Furious franchise becoming one of the biggest things on the planet after that mediocre third film.

So I guess the point is here, a franchise rejuvenation is possible.

Been awhile since I posted in the TF forums here, but I finally caught The Last Knight the other day and was really disappointed with it. While I've lost track of Transformers in general the last few years, I would still consider myself a fan of the property. Despite their flaws, I did enjoy the first four films, but I couldn't find anything redeemable with this entry. So I do hope that Bay is finally done with the franchise. The film franchise really does need a reboot at this point, but I know that that isn't likely. Hopefully a change in directors will give the franchise a boost at least.
