Some IMAX theaters are only slightly bigger than normal theater screens. They just give you the "IMAX experience" which is just a fancy way of saying "We're digital projection" If you're looking for the 6 story screens, be sure to ask ahead of time.

I've never been to a movie in IMAX. I should move to Finland so I don't feel like such a moron for not going to a theater that's 10 miles away from me

Yeah, the one above Lincoln Square is real Imax man, that's where I see most of my movies. I would suggest you buy your tickets early in the day before the movie, it sells out rather quickly.

In all honesty, I wouldn't bother, TDK. Imax is highly overrated. You're going to the greatest city on Earth, don't waste it cooped up in a movie theater.

So even without the 3d-glasses the screen looks "normal" and is viewable? Assuming that they have some kind of 3d-glasses, right?

I'm not entirely sure . I peaked once watching some IMAX deep water documentary and it looked normal but I think Beouwulf looked odd.

Kind of based off what Matt said, There is alot to do in NYC and it's time consuming , so maybe IMAX isn't the best way to spend your time here.

I didn't see anything listed for UP in IMAX only for 3-d.
