it probably will .. yogi bear and green hornet are C-list characters lol

tron may not be known but the trailers should spark way more interest, being how original it is.

It';; be interesting to see if Yogi Bear will move away or not.
In terms of audiences , Tron 2 and Yogi bear are completely different .
But Yogi Bear is going to be a 3-d release. Ditto Tron 2.
Both movies will compete for the digital 3-d screens.

We haven't heard anything yet so i'm assuming that negotiations have either not taken place or they've just started. But if they haven't taken place , Disney would be smart enough to ensure a IMAX 3-d release , just to give them the edge with the theaters.

I suspect Hornet will tank, but Yogi and Tron will be first and second place, or at least tied. Tron may be Disney, but for real young kids, it might be a tad intense, thereby forcing parents to go to Yogi.

Exactly. I too had had my doubt initially about Green Hornet going into direct competition with Yogi Bear. The fact that Yogi Bear had the 3-d release AS well as the holiday season , two factor that helped Ice Age 3 ( 3-d) and Alvin & The Chipmunks ( holiday release date) gross that much $$$ , IMO gave it the edge in the BO race.

On the other hand Green Hornet could've provided some counter programming . The audience for that are the young male ( & geeks) whereas Yogi bear is more for the parents and kids.
However Tron's audience is very similar to green hornet's. And Tron is also going to be released in 3-d.

I'm still thinking that Tron will be 2010's Star TRek in terms of BO results.

Wait... they're making a YOGI BEAR movie? :wow:

Man, if that's not proof that they've run out of ideas...

He's smarter than the average CG character.

Yogi Bear a C-list character? I think the character ranks up there with The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Pink Panther.

I'm just as surprised as you.

Ironically, I suspect Seth Rogen will be cast as the voice. I think he could do the mannerisms.

Interesting news of tron 2 going head to head with yogi bear, and green hornet.

Well, if so, then we'll get to see if he can maintain his talent for playing the exact same character in every movie even as a CGI cartoon bear.

I don't know..I think the hate for Seth is getting overwhelming. Bill Murray and Chevy Chase played the same characters again and again. But I guess their movies were more consistent during their heyday.

I don't get competing with green Hornet. Why not a batter date?

well they are still over a yr away from happening all 3 films whos to say between now and then things wont get moved again.

yogi bear....movie.....wtf?.......no seriously.....wtf?.....okay i´ll be seeing the bootleg version.

It's like 16 months from now. I'm sure that both Yogi and Green Hornet will get moved, no matter what. And if they do move, only people in the industry and fanboys will know. The public in the end, doesn't care, so no one gets hurt!

BUT, I do have to say if Sony is stupid enough to keep Hornet on that date, Tron will kill it. Even on concept alone, Tron is very visual and very appealing. Plus, it's the same demographic as Hornet, so that wouldn't be countering the market.

what does the date even mean? its not lik people watch the movie only opening day. some will watch it on monday some on thursday and some on saturday.
if a movie is good it will get good word of mouth. movies that are made for the opening week are what they are.

I agree that TRon definately has the edge in terms of audience awarness then Green Hornet. HOwever there is the question of just how long the studio can move Green Hornet. They'd constantly be moving it from one date to another andone could argue that there would be a competitng movie coming out on the same day which could technically pose a threat. Sooner or later you just have to settle on a release date.

As for Yogi , i don't think that the studio is moving that movie.
C'mon a kids movie with a wellknown kids character shown in 3-d duing the december holiday season. That's an ideal period for Yogi bear.

It worked for Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Hornet should be moved to November. I mean Tron does have the edge over it. Depending on the film it makes alot in its opening weekend. That usually tells us how good th emovie will do and in its coming weeks. I don't get how a first film of a potential franchise will go up against something that will probably win over it. Not to mention the notion of Rogan as a comic book hero will make people want to see Tron instead.

Eactly. I posted this as well.

Makes sense but it could be that the movie would be rushed . I'm not exactly sure but isn't there a deadline of a month before the release date. If your going with a november release date , 'that would mean that they would have to finish in october.
Even on that fron Tron has a advantage because they're done shooting and are now well into post. as oppsed to Green Hornet where they just started shooting

I honestly think that Green Hornet is going to tank, Tron is going to do mediocre biz and Yogi Bear is going to make more than it should.

Ofcourse I'm going to change my mind when these movies get closer.

Unfortunately, I'm sure it's going to be a success thanks to all these damn kids!!! :cmad:
