True Crime: Hong Kong Cancelled

They just want to pool all of their resources into Call of Duty. Activision is getting out of control.

Does it suck? True Crime hasn't really every been good... Though you could be Snoop Dogg in the first one.

Yea i mean i never really thought the game would be that good any way, but thats deff a series id like for them to get right. Neat concept.

It could have been good and how can you cancel a game that hasn't proven itself yet but not cancel Tony Hawk. I gotta say I'm surprised they canceled Guitar hero, I thought for sure they would have kept doing that til it was selling basically no units.

It sux to me because Call of Duty is alright, but for Activision to shut out a game that could have been good in favor for yet more over the top Military shooting, come on. Call of Duty and Spider-Man, Activision's babies

I never played the others. But the latest one looked really cool and I was looking forward to it. Damn

Really its just CoD. Spider-Man doesnt make the kind of money Activision would want it to.

Forget about True Crimes. Thats always been an irrelevant series which never quite gained mich popularity. I am shocked that they are axxing the Guitar Hero franchise. Did the last one not sell? I rememebr when this was one of their biggest sellers, with multiple spinoffs across all platforms. They really ran it into the ground like the Tony Hawk seroes

Indeed. I reckon Call of Duty is next. And probably Bungie's new IP some time after that.

Yep, CoD cant be much further behind, unless they really change up the formula, which they'll have to once Battlefield 3 comes out and they see the critical and consumer praise it will get.

Band games, as a whole really, really dropped off the map in 2010. I think Kotaku had an article a few months ago about how poorly Rock Band 3 sold as compared to 2.

Rock Band/Guitar Hero were fads. They were popular fads... but still fads.

I myself, hated them. I understand WHY people liked them, but I never seen them as anything more than a fad.

I really love the irony that in their statement where they announced that they were canceling axing Guitar Hero that they were going to overly ****e out Call of Duty. It's as if they completely forgot what killed the Guitar Hero brand and the music genre to begin with.

I think that this shows the rather horrid state that Activision Blizzard is in right now. Sure Blizzard is in healthy shape, but that's because they're diversifing with the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises. Activision on the other hand now only has Call of Duty. Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk are dead due to overmilking, bad decisions, and mediocre games. The rights to Spider-Man and the X-Men will go to Disney Interactive in 2017. They bought a dead franchise with NASCAR. Bungie will own the new IP they're making. And there are really no future prospects for Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, True Crime, James Bond, and Transformers asides from mediocre games that won't be huge hits or simply get ignored.

It's really sad that the collapse of the music genre caused Viacom to sell Harmonix for only $50. That's right fifty dollars. I wouldn't say that they were fads, it's just that you could only do so much to advance they genre and it wasn't worth putting out one main game a year plus expansion titles, spin-offs, and portable side games. Along with Rock Band (which also ****ed out though not as bad as Guitar Hero), there was just too much product in a very limite genre.

I agree, then only thing that is gonna kill CoD is CoD itself, Activision tends to milk the dog hell out of certain games. Pretty soon people are gonna get tired of it, I know there are some die hard CoD fans out there, but IMO Battlefield is the better game. I love that feeling like I'm making a difference taking down groups of enemies, not the same can be said when enemies spawn, spawn, and spawn some more until you get to a certain point in the map that activiates the scripting of enemies spawning to cease

You want to know something that sucks even more than the cancellation of True Crime...

Rumors are stating that Activision is in talks to buy........TAKE-TWO

Kotick really needs to be stopped.
In Feb 2008, EA tried to buy Take-Two to no avail. After that, they tried to buy it directly from the shareholders. In the end, in September of that same year, EA walked away.
It was a great victory for Take-Two.
Now, it same madness returns, now is Activision, the big evil itself.
Not even EA, before 2007, before Riccitiello returned to the company, before they returned to be a great company, was as hated as Activision is.

I hope, i pray that Take-Two is victorious once again, if not......imagine GTA, Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock on a yearly basis.
Imagine Call of GTA or Red of Duty: Modern Bioshock
What scares me the most is that Call of Duty is a gigantic brand, the same goes to Blizzard, which makes me think, if Activision goes to the shareholders, they might sell them the company.

I dont think it will happen, but that does scare the s**t out of me.

You know... I'm kind of glad Bioware was bought up by EA. At least they can remain Bioware.

Can you imagine if Activision bought them? *shiver*

Yea and it doesnt matter if BF isnt the better game or not, you cant keep producing the same thing without advancing the game and expect people to keep buying it over a long period of time. The game hasnt advanced since the first Modern Warfare. EA went through the same thing with Madden early this generation, they started taking deeper and deeper losses each year until they had to clean house, get new management and Madden is starting to sell again. Activision doesnt think like that though, they just sit there and say, well we can get 3 or 4 more versions of this game out before we bleed it dry, lets do it. Instead of, we need to alter the formula here and give the consumer something new. Iv never seen a company care so little about quality. Im generally one to stick up for these companies as they're all businesses and their job is to make money, but c'mon man.

Well at least EA has been trying to put out quality products as of late. Activision just doesnt care.

True that, EA has been doing pretty good in recent years, especially with the success of Dead Space. I could go on all day about Activision, apparently if it isn't Call of Duty, they're not giving a damn. I predict by 2013, gamers are gonna grow tired of yearly CoD games, its gonna run out of steam

Yea, i think it'll start sooner than that. I could be completely wrong, but i dont see this next version of CoD outselling the last. Im not saying it wont rake in a ton of dough, but im not sure itll hit the demand as the last one did. With the IW fiasco and the horrid PS3 version, i think some fans will look elsewhere.

Oh I know... believe me. I have nothing against EA (other than that stupid NFL contract... but it's the NFL's fault just as much as EA's) but at one time they were in the same spot Activision is in now. I remember places exploding in nerd rage when they bought Bioware.

I'm just saying, I can't imagine BioWare being forced to put out yearly Mass Effect games...
