Is it me, or does this film never get old? I swear I can still watch it today and laugh out loud, and/or be blown away by its action and effects. For 1994, this film was way ahead of its time IMO. I think Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Arnold were absolutely perfect together in this movie, and Jamie Lee Curtis' strip scene wasn't so bad either :wow:.......:hehe:. That scene in particular where the highway/bridge is shot up by those fighter jets is still amazing to me too.

You definitely don't have to agree with me fully, but I honestly think you have to at least agree that this movie is one of the best of its kind. I have yet to see a film that balances action and comedy any better than this one.

From Arnold's glare at his wife who he knows is lying under her breath, and Tom Arnold checking for his crotch and kissing a pole that saved his life, to the bathroom fight between a Terminator-ish thug and our hero, and the spectacular action/effects on the highway in the end. I still generate natural laughs and thrills from watching this film like no other that I've seen.

Is this the best action-comedy film ever made? What do you think?

I personally don't think Arnold fits the role :(

It was a good movie but the greatest? Nope

^ WTF? Haha, you beat me to posting up a video of the film, but I'd thought I'd leave it for others to do, but that was different. :hehe:

Scene's like that are why the movie is so good... and it makes a great song.

Any ideas for who you think would've been perfect for the role?

I don't know I just don't buy it is all. Like Arnold as a secret agent is laughable, just look, and listen to the guy. He's about as discrete as Mr. Bean :D

Cameron has only made 6 official films. I feel this is the one he was least passionate and ambitious about (This film along with The Abyss, another great one, were part of a contract obligation that Fox negotiated with Cameron so he could get his way on Aliens). He was basically just fulfilling an obligation when he made this film. However, Cameron is a perfectionist, so him at his least driven is still more drive than any 10 other directors put together....so yeah, it's a great film and a whole lot of fun.
Arnold is good, Tom Arnold is hilarious and Jamie Lee Curtis gives one of the best performances of her carreer. The acton and laughs are hot too. Hell, even my mom really liked this movie.

Best Action comedy?...hmmm, I'd defintely say it is up there.

I challenge anyone to name a better action/comedy.

FYI I don't consider Die Hard an action/comedy.

So what are the criteria of an action comedy? The Indiana Jones films, particularly the last two, had lots of laughs.

Most action... with the most comedy... you simply can't top this film's ratio of action/comedy...

Not even Crusade is even close in the comedy department compared to this film... the entire first half of True Lies is a riot... and the action... its not even close.

I would say it's definetly up there as a "great" but it's too hard to pick one film as the greatest of it's genre/type.

I LOVE this film, i am a long time 'ahnold' fan and this one of my all time favorite films that he did. great action, and the chemistry between the actors is outstanding. tom arnold will NEVER be as cool or good as he was in this. oh and tia carrere as one of the villains :bh:. and some of the best lines in it.

helen: did you kill anybody?
harry: yes, but they were all bad.

:hehe:

One of my favorite scenes has to be the one where Arnold is driving around with Bill Paxton.

Paxton played the perfect sleazeball.

"..and a pair of t*tties that will make you stand up and beg for buttermilk!"

It definitely has its hilarious moments, but I wouldn't call it an action-comedy.

Great action film though. Still waiting for the sequel when Arnold returns.

And yes. He still has it in him.

That is very true..

The bigger question...WHEN will this movie get an appropriate treatment on disk? DVD came and went and nothing more than the bare bones. Maybe Blue Ray?
