Trying to find a childrens book of my youth

Me and my brother have been trying to find this kids book it was his fave book and he want to get it for his daughter. All I remember from it was a an earth cat who was also a space hero that talked. he was summoned to stop a creature that was eating all the fish on this planet but he finds out that all the creature liked was the bones and he only ate the fish to get to the bones so he sets him up at a location where he can eat all the bones he wants and the creature was a large pig/boar looking thing called a Gronk (not 100% on that). if anybody has any ideas on this story or have read it and know the title we would be very helpful.

EDIT I did a search based on the plot and I found the book Captain Furface and the Giant Broink but I cannot delete the thread so I just edited it lol

Hello Dave McFly, I've been looking for what you are describing if you still are looking for it. It is a little hard to find it because I think is a vintage collection of books for children .So far this is what I could find:
