I really want to get an editing software, preferably Adobe Premiere Pro.

Because I want to learn and improve my skills as a video editor.

I went to a retail store and they said they do not sell Adobe products separately.

They sell the whole package....

This means I have to buy the whole package including Adobe illustractor, photoshop, dreamweaver, after effects, etc.....together with the Adobe Premiere Pro.

But the whole package is very expensive....it costs about 2000-3000 dollars.

I don't really want to spend so much money.

If I buy online, I still have to pay too....and I have to pay every month/yearly.

I heard there are people who downloaded free pirated copies of Adobe softwares online, in order to save money. Is that a good solution?

What should I do?

I want to film videos with my camera and edit the footages on my computer. But I need an editing software.

Without an editing software, it's pointless.

I have seen a lot of youtubers who film their own videos, edit their videos and upload on youtube. How do they do that? Do they purchase their own editing software or do they download pirated copies online?

Any advices for me?

I'd give you my advice, but we're probably not allowed to insinuate such things here.

Dont crime!

Adobe Premiere is like $20 a month. There's also Final Cut X which is $300 on the Mac app store. Heck, there's even a cheaper Media Composer nowadays.

All three are extremely reasonable prices for these professional and industry standard applications. I don't see the issue.

Depending on your financial situation and priorities.

that's helpful, but let's be honest... this is just a "please PM me an illegal download link" type of thread

I think the vast majority of people who have photoshop have a pirated copy. Not that I condone such things I'm just saying I can't think of anyone I know who paid for a copy. That being said there are legit ways to find what your looking for. I know there are a few versions that aren't quite as expensive if I'm not mistaken. But if I had a pirated copy, and not saying I do, I would imagine that it would work just like the real thing and kind of do what I needed. Of course if I were the kind of person that pirated things, and again not saying that's the case here, it would probably only be until I hopefully one day had the money to buy a legit copy.

Hmmm, there are plenty of ways to achieve a copy of this software. They may not be legal...but like DJ said, get in where you fit in.

Photoshop is easily one of the most pirated apps out there. But I do believe since the introduction to creative cloud it's been down. And that the disc based now 3 year old CS6 is gonna remain the most popular for quite sometime.

If people are halfway serious about learning it or want to be on the prosumer/professionals level then I just don't understand the money argument. Especially for Photoshop. Photoshop is $10 a month. If someone can't afford that for something they want to take seriously then they are likely not working in the first place. Beyond basic ethics, the instant support and updates alone are worth the price of not even $150 a year over piracy and older the versions.

Thanks for all your advices.

I can only get Adobe Premiere Pro editing software because my laptop is not Apple/Mac.

Final Cut Pro is for Apple Mac computers.

I'm using a Windows 7 laptop.

Anyway, I feel like Final Cut Pro is not very user-friendly. I prefer Adobe Premiere Pro.

What's the point of buying Adobe products if the company keeps coming out with the latest version?

Although the retail assistant assures me that the Adobe premiere pro CS6/7?? is the last version, and the company will not come out with CS 9, 10, 11 after that.

Can you imagine if you spent your money buying Premiere Pro CS 5, and the company comes out with Premiere Pro CS 6, and you are thinking, "Oh dear, I should have save my money and wait for the latest edition to be released".

As others have said, Premiere Pro is $20 a month, which isn't bad at all if you're planning to use it regularly. It's a good program. I find myself using FCPX more now that I've gotten used it, but Premiere is just as good, imo.

I use Movie Studio Platinum, I just prefer the simplicity of the controls and the format.

yea i just pay the monthly sub for Photoshop, don't have to worry about new versions, will always be up to date. I mean if wanting to do as more than just a hobby, there's that whole gotta spend money to make money thing. Or maybe some cheaper or freeware type alternatives?

If your a newbie to video editing then learning FCPX imo is much more user friendly, and it works great for web content . That was kind of their plan and why they pissed off FCP7 users. They wanted a professional but more welcoming program then FCP7 that could find a more wider user range. If your coming from a background in Avid, premiere or FCP7 it takes alot of warming up to due to the interface change. But once you learn it it's actually pretty user friendly if not more so imo. I prefer Premiere myself but come from a FCP7 background. And Premiere CC right now is basically the new FCP7. It's feels more and more like that app with every update.

With the subscription service Adobe provides for Premiere you get all the updates. Purchasing disc based software is dead. It's $20 a month and that's it as many are telling you. The updates stop when you quit the service. Programs are always going to change and need support especially with all the new formats coming out. Right now FCX and Premiere CC handle just about every raw file type natively. You can drop a 6K R3D file in Premiere and have it play instantly without transcoding. You won't be able to do that with many file types in the older versions of CS. To stay up to date with Premiere you need the the newer subscription version, not the discs. Too much has changed and very fast. Technology won't just stop.

The Creative Cloud is a good way to go. You get the full Adobe suite for around $40 a month.
