Anyone else goes on tvtropes.org?

I love this site, there much you can learn about pop culture in it.

What some of you guys favorite tropes? One of mine is Too Soon

What is this about? This wiki is a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction.
Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. On the whole, tropes are not clichés. The word clichéd means "stereotyped and trite." In other words, dull and uninteresting. We are not looking for dull and uninteresting entries. We are here to recognize tropes and play with them, not to make fun of them.
The wiki is called "TV Tropes" because TV is where we started. Over the course of a few years, our scope has crept out to include other media. Tropes transcend television. They reflect life. Since a lot of art, especially the popular arts, does its best to reflect life, tropes are likely to show up everywhere.
We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal. We encourage breezy language and original thought. There Is No Such Thing As Notability, and no citations are needed. If your entry cannot gather any evidence by the Wiki Magic, it will just wither and die. Until then, though, it will be available through the Main Tropes Index.
We are also not a wiki for bashing things. Once again, we're about celebrating fiction, not showing off how snide and sarcastic we can be.
Enough about what we are not. Go on, have a look at the welcome page, and have fun!

I love tvtropes. I heard about it on here sometime late last year. Now after I watch any tv show or movie I check if it has a tv trope page

I do that all the time. And I always end up with multiple tabs open on that site.

Their forums, due to their moderation policy of "no criticism, ever," have become kind of a safe haven for neo-nazis and pedophiles. And worse than that, really bad advice in their creative writing threads due to a lack of constructive criticism.

Neo-Nazis and pedos are one thing, but BAD WRITING ADVICE?! :wow:

Well, the website's mission statement is to be a tool for aspiring writers, so it is kind of a big strike against them.

But joking aside, seriously, their forums are a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Also it kind of bugs the crap out of me when people quote their articles in real life.

I don't ever use their forums, so you've actually given me good reasons to never go to their forums.

Don't know about the forums, but the main site is fantastic.

I've read some movie threads on their forum and I've never seen neo-nazis or pedophiles. Admittedly, I haven't gone there in some time.

I love tvtropes. I usually have 3-4 tabs open at the same time when I get going. :p

3-4 tabs open? What are you, some kind of hacker?

/\ Damn I was just about to post that one.

Other than that it's defiantly "Do Not Taunt Cthullu."

I used to have a dozen or so. I try to limit myself.

For anyone who hasn't been on tvtropes yet. DON'T DO IT.

IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE!!!

See?

and so it begins MUAHAHAHAHA!

I'm liking these tropes.

Here's another one: Take that!

Completely missing the point was also averted (or subverted).

See, Manic, The Question just used the Arson, Murder and Jaywalking trope.

Yeah, you see, this kind of thing actually bugs me, when I'm talking about something and nearly everything is broken down into TVTropes article tittles.

Also, white supremacy and sexual abuse of children aside, their community is just kind of... weird.
