I think these guys reacted very intelligently, under the circumstances. The robber had already put his gun away in his bag, so it was somewhat safer to go after him.

My only concern is if this encourages less skilled and less wise fighters to intervene in more dangerous situations (i.e. trying to grab the guy if he still has his gun out would be a really stupid, stupid thing to do).
