Do you think it's possible for her to make an appearance, or do Fox have the rights to her seeing as she's a mutant?

Marvel almost certainly has the rights. She was more or less retconned into being a mutant and only had X-Men appearances later (where she wasn't really the same character, to be honest). She's a Daredevil character through and through.

She is, though, a really difficult character to write, which is probably why she hasn't had that many appearances.

Her pyrokinesis doesn't need to be linked to being a mutant, look at Scorch on AoS

And she's someone who can get around the M-word very easily. Read the initial Daredevil issues. They don't say mutant at all. They just say "she's born with it." In fact, I don't think she's ever referred to as a mutant in Daredevil at all even if she plausibly meets the definition based on how she's described.

I hope they do make her into a sexy punk like this pic, dyed hair, facepaint and fishnet stockings.

Eh, I kind of hope that the don't sexualize her costume to that degree. With her backstory, having her dress all sexy kind of creeps me out in a bad way.

I don't see how it would be out of character for her Typhoid Mary personality.
Sure her Mary personality is the meek mouse but Typhoid is sexualized, it is part of her disorder.
Plus as exploited as she can be it sure does suck to face the wrath of her transition to Bloody Mary, you'll go from blue balls to no balls right quick.

I can see not justifying monokinis for Ms.Marvel and other oversexualized female costumes but this fits.

I never said it was out of character. I said it made me uncomfortable.

But it should!

I don't it does in the way that you're implying. I feel like Typhoid Mary's sexualization is usually unironic and not done as an overt criticism of the effects of sexual abuse.

I don't like how at lot of times in comics it seems like the only way that writers/artists can think of to show that a female character is "crazy" is to have them dress up in ridiculously oversexualized ways. I can just picture the creator meeting. "Hey, how do we show just how nuts she is? Ooo oo I know, let's have her dress like a deranged hooker, that should get the point across." And the fact that it's overwhelmingly female characters who get this treatment, you very rarely see "crazy" MALE characters dressed really skimpily (or at least in ways that are clearly sexualized) makes it even worse. The massive double-standard is "problematic" to say the least.

That being said, Typhoid Mary is my favorite DD villain. So I'd love to see her appear on the show.

Oh, I'd be all for her making an appearance. I just think a wardrobe change is in order.

Every single MCU male hero has gone shirtless and we will never have that much from a woman hero because god forbid nipples!
So why the heck must we insist on covering them up all the time.
Feminism ruins everything.
So what if she is sexualized, it's a trap for the sort of man who would look to exploit her.
It takes our base male urges, which do render us easily manipulated despite ourselves, puts us in a false position of power where we feel perhaps she's exposed herself to us and is vunerable, and all a sudden not only is are our loins on fire but so is the rest of our body, and she's cackling, maybe even crying, as we die.

It's a ****ing tool man, and yes, for once, for the male viewer it is an added bonus albeit maybe a warning.

If they do use her, I really hope they take some inspiration to how Bendis reintroduced her in his run. Slowly dragging her machetes against the ground and singing "Monday Monday".

Ann Nocenti created her and Nocenti is a woman, I don't Typhoid Mary is supposed to be the usual type of fan service girl that we see in comics, I think Nocenti had a particular message with her.

Nocenti seemed to create her to mock the ways women are presented in the comics, the good girl and bad girl images we see with such characters Look at this interview when Nocenti discusses Typhoid Mary, she supposed to be something of a mockery of various female stereotypes:

Mary Walker is the pure innocent girl, while Typhoid Mary is a violent psychopath who uses sexuality to get what she wants. Her sexuality is supposed to be disturbing, it shouldn't be just fan service, that is Mary Walker dresses in a very conservative fashion compared to Typhoid Mary That being said, I think the Bendis, Maleev costume is a bit much, it looks like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen and it is not pratical for a TV series. She should wear a shirt at least. She dress in a provocative manner without being too over the top.

Given the totality of Ann Nocenti's writing, I don't think that's correct (and everyone else has more or less followed the costume she gave her). I think she fits in with characters like Number Nine. It isn't an overt criticism, but more meant to explore that uncomfortable gray area between glorifying sex and exploiting sex. The word that describes Typhoid Mary best is "uncomfortable." She's designed to make everyone uncomfortable.

The character is extremely difficult to pull off for that reason. Bendis did a decent job but mostly because of how minimalist it was. She had essentially one really awesome creepy scene where she came off as crazy (as she is) and loving the violence of it (which she does). After that, I think she said one word ("burn") and got into a fight with Jessica Jones. That's not to say he didn't incorporate some of the same subtext. Having the "trigger" be her being beat up by a man was certainly shocking, having it go from meek Mary to bold, assertive Typhoid in response.

I'm talking about Mary's third costume, the one in the pictures posted in this thread. Her original costume really wasn't fan service-y (although it was fairly tacky).

I don't think she was sexualized (in terms of proportions/chest) in the Bendis/Maleev run and I think it's a decent outfit for her if she ends up in the Netflix series. Though add something over the chest or something.

Well the original costume had the fish net stockings, so it bit fan servicey, but in an 80s way. The Bendis costume is kinda of interesting, I like the biker look, that is kinda of an interesting update. But the no shirt thing is a bit much and really it doesn't seem like this series is rated R, so giving Mary a costume that is just going to be a constant wardrobe malfunction is counter productive to shooting a TV series. I really don't see why Mary should be deprived of a shirt, just because that is how Maleev drew her. I think if they gave Mary a shirt, the third costume would be vastly improved. I would agree with you, that the Maleev costume is a bit too much.

It might be best to just simply combine aspects of the various costumes she has worn, nothing too 80s like her first costume, but less over the top then the Maleev costume.

I think the update is a good one because we're not in the 80s anymore so nobody needs shoulder pads. That being said, it probably goes a bit too far. Give her a shirt. Hell, make it a fuchsia shirt. The rest of it is fine.

Fuchsia fishnet shirt + black pasties, everyone wins!

I'm not sure she should be wearing any clothing revealing enough to require pasties. That's pretty bad. It means the character is so sexualized that we had to put stickers on her nipples or else Marvel wouldn't let us air it because children could be watching. I get that she has to have a ritual for going in costume anyway, but I'd prefer to stop at putting on makeup rather than putting on pasties.

Fuchsia is an ugly color. Just fill in the blank and make it a black leather bra/bustier thing and add some metal studs.

I say just have her wear a white shirt, it would be a good contrast with all the black leather.
