Kevin Feige hasn’t been shy about drawing inspiration from both the 616 and the Ultimate Universe. He has successfully created a tasteful hybrid of the two universes with his MCU. As such, we have seen a lot of content that draws from the Ultimate comics. My question is, with the upcoming focus on the Multiverse, would people still like to see an Ultimate cinematic universe?
I see it as a nice way for Marvel to provide variety. It could be a good opportunity for Marvel to expand beyond the stylistic blueprint that Feige has maintained throughout all MCU productions.
Think about the way DC made Joker its own thing. Marvel can’t really do that with the MCU, it all has to fit. Maybe The Ultimate Universe could provide an opportunity for a prestige director to come in and do a one-off without as much pressure to maintain a pre-existing aesthetic or produce sequels. These characters are so malleable, they need not be restrained to Feige’s vision. As wonderful as the MCU is, I’d like to see some variety.
An Ultimate Universe could be a loose adaptation of the Ultimate comics and more of a parallel cinematic universe that could feature more experimental directing styles and different actors as beloved characters.
I for one would love it. But ideally this would happen 10 years or so down the line. What say you?
