Ultimates 3: Bad Comic, Or Worst Comic?

First off, beware all, there be spoilers ahead.

I am aware there is already an Ultimates thread, but I feel that at this point, a new poll is needed. As you all know, Ultiamtes 3 concluded this week. It featured such wonderful lines as "Well then, I guess that makes me...THE MOTHER F**KER!!!" And wonderful plot twists like Dr. Doom somehow still being around and controlling all the Ultrons even though he's supposed to be trapped in the Marvel Zombies universe, and Captain America dressing as a Panther for some reason (perhaps he's a furry?). Then there's also the fact that the robot Ultimates dressed and act like the Ultimates did before Loeb took over. I dont understand what was the deal with that at all, shouldn't it have been the other way around? So the writing is hackeneyd and really makes no god damn sense. Throw on top of that Joe Mads horrible art, with no sense of anatomy, and everyone looking like they're covered in tumors (which is supposed to be muscle, I guess).

So, we know that Ultimates 3 won Marvels recent blog poll as "Worst Comic Ever." Do you agree with this? I have to say, while I wouldn't say it's the worst comic ever, period, that it's probably Marvels worst main stream work since the new millenium started. What do you guys all think?

Well, correction, the ultron ultimates weren't acting like millar's ultimates. They were acting quite the opposite, thats why a lot of people hated the series because everyone was acting so out of character, at least now we know that they were robots and not the real ultimates.

No. The Ultimates we've been following, wearing the 616 costumes, and for example, Thor talking in Norse speak, were the REAL Ultiamtes. The Ultron Ultiamtes all dressed in the Ultimates 1/2 costumes, and Ultron Thor even had a big monolouge going "Why do you talk like that? I don't really sound like that, do I?" to the Real Thor.

I'm sorry, but Trouble (a.k.a. Aunt May is a **** the series) is and always will be the single worst piece of **** Marvel has ever published.

Ultimates 3 on the other hand, they went "These guys might be robots...Nah, they're the real guys, f**k continuity!" and then gave Jeph Loeb 2 high priced "escorts" to pleasure him oraly.

Since the art is half of the comic reading experience I would have to say that Ultimates 3 does not deserve the label of "worst ever."

But it sure isn't good.

Mads art is awful. He has no story telling skill, he has no sense of anatomy. He is a child of the 90's art style, and on the same level of terribleness as Rob Liefeld. Why some people attack Liefeld and defend Mad, I will never understand.

Ultimates 3 is a stinker. But it's nothing more than that. Simply a dumb story with bad dialogue and nothing else very remarkable about it. And with a career as long as Loeb's, stinkers are inevitable, although this one is especially bad I will admit. Trouble, on the other hand, took a beloved character and spat in the face of everything that was loved about said character. It's not just a low quality yarn. It's horrendous.

All Star Batman & Robin is intentionally like that though, and is meant as a parody. It's also hillarious. Loeb actually thinks Ultimates 3 is GOOD.

the story is still riddled with plot holes -- the Pyro one line explanation makes no sense... Juggs.. who was the real Panther (cheap ploy to get us to buy Captain America Annual)... nothing in this comic makes sense.

And is Ultimatum a 100% Hawkeyes' fault... I mean, let's just give him to Magneto already....

And since when can Wanda just get Pym off house arrest? Didn't she need some legal authority to pull that crap. The type of authority that may have been granted when the Ultimates were under Fury's command? I have NO idea what they were doing in this story...

The rape, the insectsious relationship, randomly killing and removing villains and characters like Mastermind and Pyro, but flat out forgetting the likes of Mystique and Blob and Multiple man... and the ending... okay so a hole stopped them from killing Magneto -- wtf, they just f-ing killed Quicksilver but I guess we should turn back guys?

I'm with Thanosrules on this one. Liefield tries to be some kind of realistic (despite all the shoulder pads) and comes of extremely ******ed.

MAD! has a specific, exaggerated style, which I like. You could accuse Bachalo (who I also like) Romita Jr and many others as well.

For me, you can accuse an artist of being crap and proportionally wrong when he's trying to be realistic, but accusing a deliberately styled artist is redundant IMO. What next, having a go at a Hulk artist for giving him massive fists, no neck and colouring him green?

If you havent read it yet, I suggest you dont. And Mads style is the exact same as Liefeld, and he has all the same short comings. And I've always felt this way about him. Hell, even back in the 90's I used to look at his X-Men covers and go "no thanks."

Giant "tumor" muscles are part of comics.

I don't see any stubby arms -- The first half of his arm looks shorter because of perspective. His arm is tilted towards the "camera."

I see a neck. Thor's super ripped. That's why it's not a slender, long neck.

As for the feet, maybe he can't draw feet too well. I've seen him draw them fine in the past though.

My point is, you're mistaking a stylized way of drawing to someone who obviously isn't that good at drawing period. I have some pretty decent drawing skills. Nothing great or professional but decent. I can draw better than Liefeld. I cannot draw better than Joe Mad. They're completely different and Mad is clearly 100% better.

And we obviously have different opinions and that's cool but I think **** like this looks pretty f-ing good.

EDIT: BTW, the feet look pretty good to me.
