It is, and not engaging at all.
It's actually kind of impressive, because Loeb is killing off characters that I like and ruining everything that was good about the ultimates, but I still don't care.

Where was it shown for sure that Nightcrawler and Beast definitely kicked the bucket? And btw, how many times are they gonna kill off Ult Beast? This is at least two now right?

I agree with most of you though, it seems like some of this should be meaningful but its just not hitting home with me. And the scene with the Blob and Wasp was just a bit over the top and misogynistic, no? Has he ever eaten people before? I know he's threatened it, but its never actually been shown, right?

Oh ok, I don't read Ult X-Men so I missed that. What about Mary Jane, Gwen, and all of Spider-Man's supporting cast that were in the train car with him when the wave struck? Are they pushing up daisies as well?

As for the supporting cast of Spidey, I'm not sure. The only one I saw get out was Kitty.

Other than that (pointless) twist, I cannot believe this is how they're resetting the Ultimate universe and cutting down on the titles. Plus, Hawkeye is revealed to be an enhanced/bionic human rather than the natural/practice 4 hrs a day archer we thought he was? Well that explains the glasses he wore off duty in volume 2....

Same here, as well as Prof X, prolly turn out to be an astral projection slight of hand deal, but the Wasp, that chick is dead and eaten, man that splash blew me away, could have done with out "Taste like chicken" line however. Man in the 616 or Ultimate, Jan just doesn't get a break.

Why in God's name hasn't marvel fired Loeb already? His track record for the past few years has been atrocious, his books have been getting horrible reviews and the fans dont like him, what's keepin marvel from kickin this dude out? His wolverine arc: sucked hard, Fallen son: sucked hard, Hulk: sucks hard, ultimates 3: sucked incredibly hard...heck the last decent thing he wrote was for DC not marvel.

Agree, except regarding Fallen Son. Thought that was actually great. Ultimates 3 was an atrocity, though. An atrocity. Considering Ultimates 1 and 2 were about the greatest comics ever, Ult 3 was just blasphemy.

I'm loving this!

At first I was a bit skeptical but issue 2 just blew me out of the water. The full page splash of Blob eating Wasp is worth every penny.

This, to me, is the first time in a LONG while that an Ultimate book actually FEALT like an Ultimate book. The line originally started as a place where anything could happen and things were completly different then 616 but after Millar left Ult. X-Men that title became just like 616 and the less said about the other Ultimate books the better.

Exactly, the Ultimate is SUPPOSED to be a different place than the 616, so then why is Loeb hell bent on making the Ultimate U exactly like the 616? He portrays the characters exactly the same way. For god's sakes, why does Thor's hammer look like the 616 one all of a sudden?? Loeb didnt even bother to read Ultimates 1 and 2 to figure out how the characters were supposed to act, he just writes it however the hell he feels like it.
