Looks like a Ulysses like story set in space (obviously). Can't say I remember watching this myself, pretty much stumbled on the links by accident.

That is a "classic" at least for us French. It was and still is a good anime.

Trivia : Ulysse ship, The Odyseus, was inspired by the logo of the channel that ordered the anime ( France 3 at the time ), it was a request from the channel.

I remember it. It was a spectacular cartoon! Loved the mythology, crazy characters, art design, animation, the darker french tone with japanese style mixed in. What a fantastic cartoon
