Uncanny X-Force

Man, Havok could've totally stayed out in space and been awesome... :csad:

What's with the exclamation point next to Archangel's name?

Have Havok and Ploaris been confirmed? Just because they appeared in a promo pic doesn't mean they are actually going to stay on the roster.

No, they're not confirmed. People just think they may be on it in the future because they just happen to be near the other X-Force members in the Djurdovic variant poster that came out a little while ago.

havent read the new x-force stuff, it on my list. i was a huge fan of the old x-force with cable. gonna have to catchup with them. i liked them because they actually killed or maimed people. used to be cable, domino, siryn, cannonball, boom-boom,shatterstar, warpath, sunspot, feral, rictor at one point. that was a helluva team. i would like to see my old x-force come back.

I didnt like X-Force till they broke away from Cable and did there own thing. The lineup of Moonstar, Siryn, Sunspot, Meltdown and Proudstar was my favorite

SHH's own Dew K Mosi asked a question about Havok & Polaris at the SDCC and she was told by Marvel's elite editors (it was a panel with Loeb and Quesada, among others) that there were "plans" for Havok & Polaris. I would hardly be stunned to see they had returned to the X-Books. It was amazing that three X-Men were allowed into the space line for as long as they were.

To be fair, Havok & Polaris actually did very little in WAR OF KINGS. They were ambushed with the rest of the Inhuman Royal Family at the wedding between Ronan and Crystal. They attempted to rescue Lilandra, and failed. Havok personally got his ass kicked by Darkhawk. While Marvel Girl (Rachel Summers) avenged the murders of the Grey family by the Shi'ar Death Commandos, Havok failed to avenge Corsair, as Vulcan died fighting Black Bolt. Aside for bemoan the distress of the Shi'ar empire and wear some decent duds by the end, Havok & Polaris did very little. I'd argue Lorna did more because she at least was usually Crystal's confidante at the time. REALM OF KINGS: STARJAMMERS #2 stated that the X-Men in space were returning to Earth, so this was inevitable.

In a way I feel sorry for Havok. This was his big chance to do something on his own without Cyclops and overall he failed. Cyclops may have made many mistakes with Utopia but at least he can claim to have weathered mutants through a rough storm and now there is literal Hope in the horizon. The most Havok accomplished was blasting stuff in the background of fight panels.

The amazing thing is that UNCANNY X-FORCE is getting such a big push, when countless other launches are allowed to twist in the wind and be virtually ignored.

Yeah, I remember that time on the book was pretty popular. I was never too big into New Mutant/early X-Force personally. I did read some of the Simonson/Blevins run back in the day. I remember it was some pretty good stuff. Dark, but good. Brett Blevins......he was such a cool artist. Whatever happened to that guy? And why isn't he still on the roster at Marvel?

After NEW MUTANTS #83, he was the regular artist on SLEEPWALKER. Then he moved to DC and ultimately drawing storyboards for TV animation, specifically SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, THE NEW BATMAN/SUPERMAN ADVENTURES, BATMAN BEYOND, and JUSTICE LEAGUE. He won 2 Emmys in 1996. He left storyboards in 2005 and mostly does freelance stuff now.

He needs to freelance his ass back to Marvel!

I remember Sleepwalker, I wonder if there's any trades of that out?

I don't believe any of SLEEPWALKER has been collected. TPB's were rare in the early to mid 90's and demand is likely not high enough. Of course, Marvel released a trade of ATLANTIS ATTACKS for no reason other that the Serpent Crown was a Maguffin recently in SECRET WARS, so who knows. Your time may come.

Sleepwalker is one of those books where I have ALWAYS wanted to read them but for some reason have never done it. I even had most the series at tone point but was missing several of the earliest issues and wanted to wait until I had those to read them... but then money issues arose and I sold everything. So the series still goes on unread.

I never read SLEEPWALKER. Aside for a trading card, my first exposure to him was when he guest starred in REVENGE OF THE SINISTER SIX, I believe. Had nothing against him, but he and Darkhawk came out around the same time, and the latter got more interest out of me. Unique concept, though.

I read a couple issues. I think I was impressed by the character's design, and I liked what I read of the concept on one of those Marvel trading cards. Series 3, I believe, if anyone cares. ;)

Yeah, Revenge of the Sinister Six was my first exposure as well, and now that I think of it there was an issue of his title I did read but it was one of a two part story guest staring Spider-Man and I remember loving that issue but that's the only one I read. I don't remember any of it now though.

Sleepwalker was a "rookie" in MARVEL UNIVERSE SERIES 2 trading cards. Along with Darkhawk. :o

Yeah, but I remember him better from the third series. The ones that all had that black starfield for their background.

You know, one of these days I plan on buying a bunch of those 90's trading cards. Those few years of Marvel Universe, the X-Men Fleer Ultra, the Spider-Man stuff.

My dad had a habit of buying me the entire sets back in the '90s. I have like all of the Marvel universe sets, all of the Spider-Man set (which had tons of Bagley art from back when Bagley drew normal-looking people ), and all of the first Marvel Flair set. Good times. I think the second set of Marvel universe cards were actually my favorite, on account of all the Art Adams goodness.

Of course, they're all collecting dust in binders under my bed in my parents' house now.

You can find Sleepwalker on Ebay or in discount bins at cons. I highly recommend reading it if you haven't yet. It was very good.

You can also buy complete card sets on Ebay. I've been filling in my missing cards the last couple years. The funniest thing is the crappiest sets are the ones that are hard to come by for a good price. By crappy I refer to the 99 cent packs that came out in '99 and the Marvel Legends set which featured generic psychedelic backgrounds. But, I give them props; at least the majority of them had ORIGINAL art, not the recycled crap on the latest Marvel releases. I mean, fer crissakes...the Shadowcat in the X-Men set was a blown up segment of a team-up card from the Spider-Man set!

I'm thinking Havok and Polaris will be joining the team. At the end of Realm of Kings Havok, Polaris, Korvus, and Rachel were headed back to earth to inform Cyclops that the Phoenix Force left both Rachel and Korvus. Rumor has it that somewhere during their journey home they will be kidnapped by Apocalypse or his minions which kind of coincides with Uncanny X-Force's first mission...take down the Big A and Apocalypse new base is on the Moon. I can see Havok and Polaris in X-Force (Korvus too but he'd follow Rachel). Also if you look at some of the covers Wolverine is missing so I don't expect him to remain with the team after the first arc. That's just what I figure is happening in the book...kind of a shift from wetworks to classic X-Factor black ops type of thing.

i liked the team with cable and the cable solo series, i kinda liked the time travel stuff and x-cutioner song story, stuff with stryfe and the old deadpool.
don't think i got that far into x-force when they swtiched to that team. after the onslaught storyline i just fell out of comics. comic shop closed in my area so i just stopped readin them. recently got back into them have been reading through everything i missed.

I was into X-Force when they had Risque on the team if I recall correctly. Also Proudstar, Rictor, and Boom Boom. I'm guessing that period was before the one referenced in the pic above?

I do like the sleeker, dark look and red eyes on the newer books but I haven't really gotten into them. Even though I think the artists make Domino very sexy, I never bought into her power. I did like the Vanisher being on the team for a while though.

As for the newest lineup, I don't have any problems with it. Though its not going to make me run to the comic book store to buy it.

Risque was never a member. She was Proudstar's love interest but she wasnt the team. Yeah she appeared just before the Roadtrip. Man those issues after OZT were great. Cannonball eventually came back as well as Domino and the book itnroduced the new character Jesse Bedlam. The book was prety solid till Marvel gutted it with Revolution and it all went downhill from there
