Which heroes are vastly underrated, underused or underhyped?

I'm talking about the creative types, the less obvious powers that would still be extremely useful.

For example:

Karnak: For me this guy has one of the most brilliant abilities in the MU. He can see the weak point in ANYTHING. Why is he not used more often? Could he have ended Planet Hulk by now? Would he not be great as part of an Avengers team? The variable nature (physical, mental etc) of his power is immense and could create some really good stories.

Does anyone agree? Any other suggestions? Are there any simpler powers that could be used in different, more creative ways?

the inhumans aren't really that interesting nor do they feel a gap in the MU to deem worthy of an ongoing.

Sersi. She can transmute literally anything short of cosmic powerhouses into anything else, yet we usually just see her shooting things with energy blasts. Silly.

apocalypse should be a world wide threat and not just a mutant one...

he should be the x-men's main antagonist and not magneto

Dr. Strange. He can blink anything in or out of existence, yet has trouble with using his magic inside airplanes.

well no,hulk stood up to karnaks hit a few times BUT it is a great power,I think most of the inhumans are underated.I think submariners powers are underrated but thats because he doesnt useum much.

I gotta disagree there. Powers alone, they are more diverse than most heroes. If they were integrated more into the general hero populace I could see them making a great contribution.

If Crystal could join the Avengers, why not Karnak?

I think Cyclops should have different visors so he can like, give massages with his eye beams.

I second the Inhumans mention. Some great stuff there.

*Uses Bizarro de-scrambler* I agree. We've seen how great the Inhuman minis have been and with the right writer this could make for a great ongoing series.

I agree with GAH, the Inhumans are totally great and just what the MU needs more of.

A lot of people see Captain America as a dude with a shield and how can a dude with a shield stop a super villain? What makes Cap valuable is not his shield or the super soldier serum, it's his leadership qualities and his ability to assess any given situation. And his resolve. Steve Rogers makes Captain America work. Put the serum and the shield into someone else, and you won't get the same result.

Cap has NEVER been an underrated anything, especially not in the leadership and tactical sense.

This exact same thread has already been created.

I have to say super speed is both, overratted and underratted.

You know who I never thought was used well, was Jack Hawksmoor of the Authority. It just seems like "God of Cities" should have had more potential to it than anything I ever saw used. (Except that "secret files of Jenny Sparks" issue where he turns that city into a living battlesuit, cause that was kinda awesome. But not something you'd like to see him whip out every day.)

I always thought that Lockjaw could be used more. They could even use him for comedy. Imagine Lockjaw giving Iron Man fleas. Inside his suit. In the middle of a major battle.

but he doesn't have much depth.
well that is something that can be rectified...

he just needs to have a tie in with a main character of the xmen (not cable). Perhaps reconnect him to angel or something...

i'm still wondering why since aoa has he not been seen as a big world threat

I think the easiest way to make Apocalypse a bigger threat would be to have him expand his ideology to include superhumans as well as mutants. I thought it was pretty cool when he turned the Hulk into War, for example. More stuff like that wouldn't be too bad.

I dunno...He's pretty played out, for me. I mean, how many times can his plans for complete domination be thwarted by a handful of muties? Give it up, 'Lips.

Exactly. So, next time, have his plans for complete domination be thwarted by all the superheroes. It'd have the fairly cool side-effect of elevating the X-Men to advisers/leaders to the whole superhero community, too, since they know Lypsey best. Imagine Cyclops leading the Avengers and Cable leading the Young Avengers or something.
