universe and dimensions

In the Marvel U do dimensions span across the entire multiverse or are they attatched to an individual universe and each universe has it's own dimensions?

If a character had the ability to teleport themself via the Darkforce Dimension would they be limited to the 616 or could they theoretically go to any universe he wished?

In most cases each universe has its own dimensions, like Asgard, the Negative Zone, and the Darkforce Dimension.

While each universe has its own dimensions that are entirely internal the Darkforce dimension has never been detailed. Whether it is a dimension that is internal or a universe of its own has to my knowledge never been detailed. This is undoubtedly deliberate. While it is generally refered to a dimension I think that it has been refered to as a universe as well.

While we know Mojo can look in on other dimensions, we also only have Mojo's word that there is only one Mojoverse, and being the egotist he is, he isn't the most reliable information source.

however given that he is capable and expreienced in dimensional traveling it can be assumed he knows what he's talking about. besides, he'd recognized different members of the Exiles and they are almost always from different dimensions (The only exceptions being Blink and Sabertooth)

Megaverse would be the best way to explain it. Think of it like this:


One, three, nine, and so on.

The current Marvel universe would probably be somewhere around nine, which would leave entire dimensions that usually tie into other dimensions separate as part of megaverses.

Think of the Negative Zone. In the normal 616 continuity, the Negative Zone was tied into all the surrounding dimensions to the 616, however, in the Ultimates Universe, the N-Zone was a totally different thing. So that means they'd be part of a totally different string, or Megaverse.

I think I need to rewrite this.

Well, I understand just what I was trying to say. But only because I'm trying to explain it from my own thought processes, which doesn't work.

Realities that go together with each other. like say every mainstream universe also has a Darkforce, Negative Zone, Asguard, Hell, etc...

Yes, but it's due to a split early on, so they ARE tied in, just in far earlier states, incorporating a fourth dimensional concept which SHOULD be considered when dealing with this.

I guess "Package" realities would work.

I can see the point that they are tied to universe specific dimensions. But at the same time where ever the living Tribunal is and where ever the One - Above - All is... are the same in every universe.

actually... I think the Living Tribunal, at least the one we know, is specific to the 616, and there would be one for every reality. only the OAA would be true for all the omniverse.

Well, the only reason I'd use trees, is because, if you used a rope, you'd be giving the idea that it becomes smaller and smaller as you run out of rope, that's why I had to give an odd tree reference that literally grew more trees off it's own branches.

Giving the idea that it'll crush itself under it's own weight.


That's why I say fourth dimensional. lol

All coming from the same balloon, but each part tied off where the air can't pass easily inbetween one and the next.

The exiles and others (like Marvel Zombies) can pass inbetween the seperate alternate Earth's so they have to be tied. However the path can only be opened by special means or beings with the power to do so. The 616 Earth has it's own Negative zone, Asgaurd, Hell, Heaven and so on but it's tied to that Earth I believe. The Ultimate universe has it's own versions of that, but unique to it.

Personally I hate alternate realities and time travel as it's a whole can of worms being opened. Like if I walked right at a road there's suddenly a new reality where I walked left and got hit by a car, or was the reality always there and we just chose to do the same things up to that point. It's all a big headache lol.

I'd say the secondary picture represented the macro idea a lot better, and the first picture somewhat represented a singularity better.

And really, the only time time travel really starts to tick me off is the whole grandfather complex MUST happen thing.

Like when someone has to go into the past to make sure something happens in the future, or it wouldn't happen. I don't like it.

Dudes, after reading this at 12 at night. My head hurts. Like Jessica Jones said in Young Avengers "I hate time travel" and dimensional stuff. It hurts my head. Anyway I've always thought that dimensions were just other universes inside the multiverse? Also can someone please explain the microverse to me? I never understood that, is it like you shrink so small that the little tiny bugs in your carpet are as big as you or how's it work?
