Some might say this is a bit early, but I for one disagree. We all know Raimi is producing a movie for the great pulp hero the Shadow, and this topic is for people to express opinions on who should play the character, or any of his agents. I for one believe that they should stick to the Kent Allard pulp version, so no Lamont Cranston in the first movie, unless its not an origin story.

As far as my pick for an actor, I pick...

Jeff Goldblum for the Shadow. He can play a quiet character, I think he can do the laugh and the whispery voice too. (They could always ask Mark Hamill to dub in a laugh just in case. :D )

What do you guys think?

horrible idea.... you obviously know zip about our beloved master of darkness

go to www.dialbforburbank.com & watch the documentary about him...
I've already watched that documentary and done extensive research into the Shadow. Instead of deciding what I do and don't know, maybe you could explain why it's a bad idea. And also, my casting choice was a dream one, not a current one. I've long believed a younger non-stuttering Goldblum could be a great Allard/Shadow.

In the current list of big name actors I have no picks. And don't say Bale, that's a generic and impossible choice by now.

because goldblum is so dry and the onlything that even loosely represents something gangster-esque in the vain of a serious crime drama role that is neccessary for the Shadow

was MAD DOG TIME

CURRENTLY no actor has what it takes to be THE SHADOW... baldwin did, but that movie could have been SO MUCH BETTER and his acting wasn't as good as it could've been

I thought Baldwin was a GREAT Lamont/Shadow. I really wished they would have just done a sequel to the 94 film. I know it is way too late now. but to THIS day I think Baldwin would have been GREAT at Bruce/Batman if Keaton did not get the role. First of all Baldwin LOOKED more like Bruce than Keaton, and he was only 30/31 at the time (Keaton was pushing 40 at the time :hehe: ).

I think Hue Jackman would be perfect for the role of The Shadow. From the characters he plays in most movies to his look, he's almost tailor-made for the role. He's proved he can play dark characters by playing Van Helsing and playing in The Prestiege. And Wolverine has many of the same personality traits as the Shadow. He looks like the Shadow too. I mean come on ...

Cut his hair, slap on a red scarf, and replace the crossbow with a couple of pistols and basically you got the Shadow. This is my choice.

...This is a great pick............................The Shadow knows.

I agree on all accounts. Baldwin playing Lamont Cranston in The Shadow is more Bruce Wayne than Bale, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney or West. He is absolutely perfect. He even puts on an act of lazy playboy.

Baldwin really was perfect casting for both roles. As the Shadow, he was very menacing and mysterious.

That picture of him in his costume comes from the best part of the film. It was a very cool scene.

It slips my mind right now, what scene is that from? I remember the picture but forget what scene its in.

It was right before the climax. Where he infiltrates the bad guys hideout and he is just a shadow on the hallway walls laughing hysterically and then drops his mind cloud and you see him at the top of the stairs which is what your pic is

:) Great scene.

I want Paul Blackthorne to play The Shadow. I like this dudes look. He was the star of The Dresden Files on SciFi.

Oh yes, I remeber now, ty.

Here's what he'd look like as the Shadow

You can hardly tell this isn't Alec Baldwin. Hugh Jackman is definately a good choice.

Jon Hamm's an okay choice, but he doesn't strike a shocking resemblance to the Shadow like Hugh Jackman does. :wolverine

Its a little hard to tell which one Jackman and which ones Baldwin.

I take that back..........I guess Jon Hamm looks a LOT like Alec Baldwin, too. Maybe even more than Jackman.

Y'see!
Plus
  • If you've ever seen Mad Men (which you should just watch period) he knows how to play someone who is very much on the edge of sanity
  • And he's not tied to any franchise at all

Same could be said about my choice since everyone should be watching Burn Notice period.

But either could work

Baldwin was great in the role, even though the movie was pretty bad. I wish they'd made a sequel though, back in the day. Oh well.

Today I really wouldn't know who could do it. Hugh Jackman is a good choice, but I'd hate to see him getting typecast yet again as a lone adventurer/superhero... Let's see him branch out a little more like in The Prestige or The Fountain.
