Are there any Batman projects people wish got made?

Mine are:

Batman DarKnight by Lee Shapirio and Stephen Wise: Man-Bat and Scarecrow as the villains would have been pretty cool! Would have been interesting to see George Clooney portray a darker Batman.

Batman Beyond Live Action film

Return of the Batman by Michael Uslan: This idea from Uslan sounded very interesting as the idea of an older Batman predated DKR and tried moving away the Campy side of Batman and Robin.

The Batman- Ben Affleck

I wish Val Kilmer had played the character again as I thought he did a very good job. There was some darker stuff exploring Batman's/Bruce Wayne's psyche cut from Batman Forever. I wish we'd seen Kilmer exploring that side of things.

I wouldn't have necessarily wanted to see the second of these actually made, but these two unproduced films have always piqued my interest. I found the casting and plot details from various websites and commentaries. The posters are manips I made. I might put something together for Affleck's The Batman a bit later.

Batman III
(working title)
Planned release: 1994-1995
Director: Tim Burton
Screenplay:
Never scripted, though Lee and Janet Scott-Batchelor were hired amidst Burton's departure.
Cast:

  • Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman
  • Robin Williams as Edward Nygma/The Riddler
  • Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent/Two-Face (expected)
  • Rene Russo as Dr. Chase Meridian
  • Marlon Wayans as Dick Grayson/Robin (expected)
  • Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth
  • Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon
Plot:
Not much is known regarding the proposed plot for Burton's Batman III, or if a completed one ever came into fruition. What's known is that Burton wanted the Riddler to feature as the main villain - and he wanted his head shaved into a question mark. Robin Williams was set to play the Riddler. In the Batchelors' original script, the Riddler was psychotic and accompanied by a pet rat. This script, tentatively titled Batman III, featured all of the title characters appearing in the finalized Batman Forever, though its tone was far darker.

It was expected Marlon Wayans would debut as Robin in Batman III. In an early draft for Batman Returns, Wayans was cast as a technologically savvy street-kid calling himself "Robin". It was also expected that Billy Dee Williams would appear as Two-Face - his appearance as Two-Face was guaranteed in his contract and Williams expressed continued interest in the role.

Batman Triumphant
(originally Batman Unchained)
Planned release: Mid-1999
Director: Joel Schumacher
Screenplay: Mark Protosevich
Cast:

  • George Clooney as Bruce Wayne/Batman
  • Nicolas Cage as Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow (role offered)
  • Chris O’Donnell as Dick Grayson/Robin
  • Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl/Barbara Wilson
  • Courtney Love as Harley Quinn (role offered)
  • Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth
  • Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon
  • Jack Nicholson as The Joker (role offered)
Plot:
Batman must learn to conquer his fears and confront the demons of his past. Robin abandons Batman due to various disagreements. Scarecrow is the main villain. Harley Quinn, a toymaker, appears as the Joker's daughter who wants to avenge her father's death. Crane discovers Batman's identity and forms an alliance with Harley. Eventually, Scarecrow hits Batman with fear toxin.

This leads Batman into insanity, and he gets locked into Arkham Asylum. The Joker returns as a hallucination caused by the fear toxin. He is accompanied by the Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face and the Riddler in the form of a final hallucination. Batman must battle them all.

Robin returns during this battle to assist his mentor. After defeating his demons, Bruce makes a trip to Bali. The script ends with Bruce entering a cave, allowing a sea of bats to immerse him - signifying that he has conquered his fears and emerged triumphant.
