USA Pays $20M for Casino Royale
Source: Variety December 18, 2006

Variety says that USA Network has acquired cable rights for Sony's Casino Royale for $20 million after spirited bidding by FX, Spike and TNT.

USA takes title to Casino Royale in June 2009 for a five-year license term. Sony has carved out three separate two-month windows within the five years for sale to another cable and/or broadcast network. That should energize the profit participants of Casino Royale: Depending on the demand, those three windows could add another $5 million-plus to USA's $20 million outlay.

Before Casino Royale winds up on USA, it will get a 15-month exclusive run on HBO beginning next December.

imo.. SPIKE deserves everything of bond! they play bond movies like 24/7.... its only right that they should get it:o

I thought Spike Tv would get it too.... But they're broke.... You can't argue with money.

after blade: the series, i cant help but feel sorry for spike, so i think that xw2's right. Plus, every weekend theres another bond special, so its only fair for them to get it.

A $20 million bid for CASINO ROYALE? If USA is putting that much money up, they definitely deserve it. :cwink:

TNT would have been nice! The recently aired all three LOTR films.

Spike doesn't have that much money.

They blew it all the steaming pile of turtle turd known as Blade the siries.

Spike sucks with reruns.
USA would show Casino Royale ALOT more.
Spike would only show it once a month.

What was spike called before it was spike?

I was cool back then.:csad:

Alright guys no more of the "your a woman if you don't like spike TV" yeah obviously I don't like it and I'm a man but come on...the stuff they can put on that station is pure crap. The ONLY reason I see Spike getting it is cause of all the marathons.

The only good things on Spike is UFC, Bondathons, and occasional MXC's.

Before it was Spike it was TNN, but before that it was REALLY TNN.
I mean it was "The Nashville Network" and a station dedicated to Country Music and related programming, it was CHannel 44 in Atlantic Canada and still is, but now it is Spike TV. I was sitting around one day and all of a sudden instead of the Red TNN logo and Nashville stuff, they had a new weird Logo that accompassed the whole bottom of the screen, had viewers calling in and you heard the call on air DURING the programs. It was also called the NEW TNN and aired "Miamia Vice," and "Martial Law." It used to show Reruns of Alice a TV Series from the 70's and I would mainly watch the channel for that, but, my Mom would watch it for the Line Dancing shows, that being when TNN stood for "The Nashville Network" and they also showed the "Grand Old Opry."

I first saw Miami Vice on The NEW TNN and have been a HUGE FAN ever since, I even went and bought Season one on DVD. I miss "Martial Law," some hated it, but I liked it. Point being, Spike used to be the last place you'd see James Bond, before it was THE NEW TNN.

OK, enough of my rant, but people were asking about Spike's history so I abliged by telling it.

Hope that helps,
MurphyMAN.
