I find it kinda odd that there isn't a thread about this seeing as how it's seems to be the biggest story ever so far in USM.

Is ANYBODY reading this at all?

I do not read the USM comics, but I did read an article about this. They've done the same thing with other superheroes and they were brought back to life, so I imagine it'll be the same with Spider-Man.

I'm reading it. Peter's final stand has been really cool so far. It will be pretty heartbreaking if they actually decide to kill him off.

IDK all signs point to him actually dying and possibly staying dead. after all Ultimate Wolverine was killed off and he still hasn't come back

To be fair the core Spider-Man books currently suck a LOT more than USM (which definitely has its ups and downs too).

I thought USM sucked around that failed relaunch in 2009 or so when they made it look too manga-ish and young, but this 'Death of Spider-Man' arc is the best story since the Clone Saga issues. Bagley is back too, which definitely makes it worth the cover price alone.

Oh and spida-man, don't worry about Anno. Guy has nothing of value to add. He's just trying to stir things up, because he's bored and has nothing else going on.

I am thinking about picking this one up.

JJJ's Ulcer: I left about the same time. With the relaunch, they killed my interest in the book. I didn't care for the art too much, and the story, with the time-jump, just lost my interest. Actually, I started loathing the book in Ultimatum. I guess the fact that the book I read was being tied into a crossover I had no interest in just soured me to the fact.

I think I should pick up this issue so that I can say goodbye to an old friend. Still love the early issues of this series quite a bit. Re-read my hardcovers regularly!

As for Anno...yeah, you show up in a USM thread about a book you hate to simply proclaim that it sucks. The Bat-boards are that way------> :whatever:

All the hate fuels me!!!!!!

seriously...this death thing isn't new...

I stopped reading USM in 2005. I don't hate the book or anything like that, I'm just not a big fan of it. I'm loving ASM currently though.

Marvel wants people to read only the Amazing Spider-man. Not Spider-man back issues or Ultimate Spider-man. They want the OMD stupid Spider-man to be the real guy. Well, guess what, Marvel? I'm not read that stupid Amazing Spider-man until something big happens and you make Spider-man A MAN again and not a cartoonish boy. Even Ultimate Spider-man is more mature and he's still in his teens. Just replace him and say the guy from the time he became magic until now was a clone.

...and bring back the real Doc Ock!:cmad:

Ugh, I've enjoyed ultimate pete since the debut of the ultimate line back in 2000. Killing him off is the most idiotic thing ever.

The Death of Spidey is all over the net. Sheesh

Yeah, as someone who has read Ultimate Spider-Man since the beginning, my readership officially dies with him. No sour grapes or anything, just read the book for the character.

i havent read an issue since ultimatum. i own that tpb but i havent read it yet. bendis coming back re-energized my interest in where the story has come. him leaving started bogging down the book for me cuz the visuals were just kinda bad. but i plan to buy the 3-4 books leading up to the death arc and i will stop there UNTIL my interest is caught again by the new direction they are going in. if thats cool, then good but if not i will be glad to stop with his death

I really have no idea if I'm picking this up or not. Since it's in the ultimate universe, I feel as though it's not as big as it would have been in the 616 universe. Then again, I wouldn't want this happening in the 616 universe.

Then we find out he's a clone and the real Peter is somewhere else. xDD

Jkk.

Seriously I wonder who the new Spider-Man is going to be? I hope they bring Peter back. :\

If they killed off the 616 Spider-Man now, it would be a mercy killing.

Anyway I don't see this new Ultimate Spider-Man lasting. Spider-Man IS Peter Parker, no matter what universe he's in. I think the Ultimate line will either fold or Bendis will bring USM Peter back somehow.

So who is the new Spider-Man? Maybe the female Peter clone with her front strapped down? Maybe Flash? Are those two still around? I've missed a lot of issues.

Is there a #161 coming out?

I cant remember if saw one solicited or not but I think its needed. Just a quiet issue to wrap things up.

Overall I've really enjoyed USM, but this will be the absolute death of the Ultimate Universe. People will not "fall in love with him the way they did with Peter.", nope, not a chance. The Ultimate Avengers may keep the line going for a bit longer, but USM was the key to this universe and this will be the end.

This issue actually made me shed a tear...I practically grew up with USM
