Video: ABC's creepy 'V' remake
ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson says his network's remake of the 1980s miniseries "V" could consist of four seasons, planned in advance, each with 13-22 episodes each (more on this, and ABC's fall schedule, here). The show is planned for midseason.

Below are two first-look previews and based on these, my hopes for the show are up. We've seen alien invasion stories so many times before, the challenge is to bring something new.

The second video in particular is a nicely done, tense scene, with Scott Wolf (and hey, he still looks like him) playing a journalist landing an interview with the alien leader (played by Brazilian actress Morena Baccarin). Every reporter's dream/nightmare.

Why not? Priest get accused of far worst and still remain in the church

V producers aren’t letting modest ratings hold them back: The upcoming second season finale is going to finish with a major cliffhanger, sources say.

The story decision is crucial as it suggests the producers either have some degree of confidence that the series will land a third season … or some measure of all-in bluster.

“To cliff-hang or not to cliff-hang?” is the angst-ridden serialized TV show writer’s existential question every season. If you don’t provide resolution, you risk a hugely unsatisfying ending should the network kill your show. Yet if you write an ending that wraps up key storylines, you could lose fan interest and storytelling momentum — which makes things tougher if the show does return for another season.

Remember Jericho? Producers famously muscled CBS into renewing the show by ending the first season on a spectacular cliffhanger that rallied fan support. (Thousands of pounds of nuts were involved).

For V, there is a real possibility of leaving fans in a lurch about the fate of the visitors and the resistance. Recent episodes have averaged 5.7 million viewers and a 2.0 rating in adults 18-49 – that’s right on the borderline.

Plus, ABC has a new entertainment president at the helm, Paul Lee, who isn’t personally invested in V and will want to get his own new shows on the air next fall. Ratings for upcoming episodes and the strength of the network’s new projects in development will play a big part of the decision process, with insiders saying the network’s V verdict will likely go down to the wire in May.

(But since I don’t want to be complete wuss about this … if I had to bet on the show’s fate right here, right now … I’d bet V comes back).

As for what the final episodes are about, well, I’ll only hint that Laura Vandervoot’s visitor Lisa plays a key role…

I must remember to watch it tonight. Every week I mean to watch, and NCIS:LA sucks me in once again. :argh:

NCIS:LA doesn't need the help, but Callen is a crazy mofo

seriously, that guy needs a hug

Which is why I try to remember to watch the struggling shows. But I'll be damned if I'm not ten minutes into LA before I realize what I'm doing.

His shoulders are just...so broad...

Or is it the tiny old lady that looks like a live action Edna Mode?

I am ready for Tyler to die. I hope Anna one day eats him

I'm not asking for Michael Bay action but this show is too slow.

Did anyone's episode tonight freeze up like off and on the last 20 minutes or so...saw
Diana eat her loyal priest
but then it froze up again and never saw the ending....

Ya same here. Will have to rewatch it again tomorrow.

The sfx on this show make me weep. I mean, I like the direction the show is going, but the effects are just ****ing terrible. And the thing is, do they even need them as often as they're used? Why do all scenes on the ship need to be CGI? Why cant they just use a set?

There could be a couple of reasons:
They want the ship to look alien, to feel unreal.
Being computer generated means they can tweak the set as much as they want without delaying shooting.
Not having a set means there are no technical issues while filming. They can put the camera wherever they want, and pan it how they like, without worrying about anything getting in the way, or any reflections. And they can make the 'set' as large as they want.

But mostly, it's probably cheaper and faster to build and reuse a few digital sets, and maintain a single real greenscreen set, rather than constantly build and redress a physical set. That's what Sanctuary did and still does, although not quite as heavily now, as I suspect their budget has been ramped up over the seasons.

Eh. I think it looks terrible, more often than not. Then again, I've been rewatching BSG over the past few weeks, and I practically wanted to make love to the Cylon baseship designs, so...

anna..please eat tyler...what that punk did to the church was just wrong

I was starting to wonder how long it would Erica's superiors to start suspecting what she was doing. Maybe erica's boss...is a V
