Various Windows Popping Up They Keep Multiplying

This is the second time it's happened to me. I'm on the internet and then suddenly new windows start popping up everywhere and when I try to close them more pop up. I've heard of this happening before but I don't know how to get rid of it. Is it a virus? Spyware?

Help me out, it's Christmas Eve

To be honest,it only happens when you visit shady sites.I hear it can happen when you go to any kind of site,it doesn't have to be pornographic.

Yeah I've been to two sites where it has happened to me and they were music related sites actually.
