As a decent amount of you guys know, I'm missing my right leg since birth. The prosthetic I have, I have had since I was 11 or so, [the newest parts in the leg are dated 1997]. As you can imagine, for a 24 year old to use a leg he's had for 13 or so years, there's a lot of problems with size and fitting, as well as certain parts not working right anymore [such as Velcro not sticking]. What you guys might not know is that it's been a legitimate HELL trying to get any government assistance with this, for various reasons, from "not being disabled" [], to simply not being able to stay in one area long enough for the paperwork to go through. This has put me in a serious depression for a while, since it took a lot away from me to not even be able to walk. I ended up gaining weight, which made the leg fit worse, which made me wear it less, which made me less active, which made me gain more weight, and so on. And with the job market being the way it is, it's been impossible for me to find any work.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I should just sum my point up in a few words...

I GOT A NEW LEG, *****ES!!!

Congratulations. I hope you get the chance to actually get what you want out of life because of the new prosthetic limb.

That's good ****, Drak. I know you've been gunning for this for a while.

Just think of what this will do for your prowess on the National Asskicking Contest Circuit? :wow:

Only if they have a leg to stand on.

Congratulations! Now go run and drop those pounds!

Good news. Congrats

I don't know why the Gubment gotta be so stingy with folks that actually need help.

Drak, reading this news made my day, bro. I've been rooting for you to get your new leg for years, now. It's a Christmas miracle!!!!!!

Great News Drak! I'm glad to hear that part of your life is over, now time to work on that resume!

I didn't say that, sugar.

I didn't say that, sugar.

But that's what the FairTax book says. :csad:

Congrats to Drakon on his new leg. Hopefully the government will work on all the red tape people in your situation have to go through for health benefits in the next few years.

You haven't read it yet, how would you know?

I've read Neal Boortz's columns. And in his view, everyone who doesn't work is a welfare mooch who doesn't deserve government money under any circumstance.

Or at least, that's what I have gotten from his columns. I can't imagine it doesn't say something like that in his book.

Let's please not turn this into an "evils of the politicians" thread or whatever.

Drakon, now that I know this about you (Didn't know you were missing a leg until now.) I will always picture this in my head when I read your posts:

Nope, still wrong. Not in the FairTax Book.

Under the FairTax, Drak wouldn't have to pay any taxes on the Necessities of life up to the Poverty level and would recieve the Prebate check once a month. He wouldn't have paid 30% in Taxes out of his paycheck when he was working, and therefore could have in theory 30% more money to live on. Plus, since the economy would grow and the Government would receive a more stable flow of revenue, programs like this won't be cut, and may have received his leg years ago, since funding wouldn't be as much of an issue as Consumption is a more stable source of Taxable revenue than Income. That, is just a few reasons the FairTax would have been benificial to Drak.

EDIT: Sorry Drak, we be just playing.
