You don't see music videos on T.V. very often anymore. A few here and there, but honestly they seem to be getting rare. Replaced by "reality" and "game" shows, movies and T.V. serieses too. Why? Wasn't there a market for videos? Would you prefer to see a music video on MTV / Much or "Ghost" for the upteenth time?

MTV has a channel for solely music videos, MTV Hits.

but that's what MTV used to be for. I know that here in Canada you have to pay extra to get "MuchMusic" on cable, and even more for "MuchMoreMusic". I know that "Much" doesn't seem to play much music anymore... I'm not sure about "MuchMore".

MuchMore does have the weekly countdown and their "list countdowns" Top whatever videos but they'll play the VH1 reality shows and other stuff for the 30 to 40 somethings. MTV Canada (second attempt) needs to be destroyed.

I blame the Real World. It seems (to me), that MTV was still MTV until the first Real World. It was so successful that MTV started moving in that direction. And then the times changed because the kids that would turn into teenagers started growing up with reality programs on MTV instead of videos and music programs. And MTV just kept adding the programming to fit the changing demographic.

Sh**ty music killed the video. Not to mention them making the same video over, & over, & over again. If I have to watch a rapper throw money at the screen, while a woman grinds. I am going kill some one!

Reality TV killed video, in particular reality TV staring former celebrities from the '80s killed video.

Virtual videos where you can sing along with your favorite stars

"Umberella ella ella ella eh eh eh eh Eeee Ooo Oo OO Ooo"

I'd say 'The osbournes' after that MTV went wild with the reality TV when before that in might have had a dating show/ real world on at around nine. After that we got 'date my mom', MADE and loads for the 'paris hilton culture' like super sweet sixteen. It makes me sick. That said here in the uk we have 22 channels for only music so perhaps that is enough.

i'm still waiting for my damn kareoke channel! there is a channel on sky purely showing homemade music vids for people singing into their hairbrushes(or there used to be. i never watched it)

Not many on "normal" tv anymore because its just as easy to watch them on the internet really

videos are still being made

they just don't have the same exposure than before

actually, methinks now there are more outlets, it's just that instead of being force fed whatever the channel was pushing on us, now we actually have the option to see what we want to see, be it in all the different MTV networks, or Much Music or VH1 or similar stuff

we didn't have this kind of choices 20 years ago

It's true, Puck Killed Video.

The thing with reality TV, is that profit margins are huge because you're not paying for professional actors and everything comes with them.

Yes, but for how long?

5 years, so far. :o

There's also an MTV Jams (Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul videos).

Agreed.

In the 80's, you could bet good money that somebody in whatever video was on was going to smash a sledgehammer through a TV set.

:word: :word: :word:

:yay:

MTVH is 24 hours of video. MTV2 (at least 12 hours) is pretty much all vids, except for TRL, and some other crappy show here and there.

If thats not enough, there's always MTVLatino.

MTV Latino sucks

Short attention spans killed the Video Star.
