i loved him as the iron giant!!
so Vin as Groot? called it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is he able to do motion capture or is the filming to far along
Good work there, Gunn.
This is awesome casting!
I could definitely see Vin's voice coming from the Groot we just saw in the leaked footage.
I really have no problem with Vin doing the voice, although I really thought he'd have a bigger role when he finally got one in the MCU.
Groot's actually a pretty significant role, especially since it's likely that there will be future movies and, barring anything chaotic happening, Diesel should likely be called back to provide the voice in said future films.
Just meant that I thought we'd actually see him in flesh-and-blood part where he's physically recognizable and not one where it's only his voice.
I was worried hed be Thanos or Rocket or Vision or maybe the voice of Ultron. Kind of relieved. "I am Groot!" Diesel - and the sound design team - can handle that I think.
Okay. That's a fair point.
However, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for him to at some point be given a physical, flesh-and-blood role in a Marvel project, especially if nothing sours the relationship between him and the company.
Great news if he's Groot but in all honesty he should have been Drax. Hes perfect for the part....I mean have you seen Redick were he uses knives....
It is truly ironic that Diesel is not Drax but he ends up appearing in the same movie as another character... it's as if Samuel L. Jackson didn't appear in Iron Man as Fury but as Obadiah, Coulson, or any other lol
He looks cool in the trailer.
I'm glad that's not the case. Don't want these movies to start going the route of the old Batman flicks (the Governator)...
vin diesel is hardly arnold in acting
vin is such an underrated actor with his performances in
the Boiler Room
Find Me Guilty
A Man Apart
i have always liked his performance as Dom in the fast and furious series
is he cast as groot or is this just still speculation?
I AM DIESEL! I AM HELP!
Vin is literally perfect for Groot. (kind of an odd thing to say)
But in all honesty, it must be weird for him to have Drax taken from him by a (not very accomplished actor) wrestler.
I'm a bit surprised that, after all the hooplas surrounding his secret meetings with Marvel, he'd take a voice-over role instead. However, it may mean that he might work with Marvel again in the future, and this time takes another character where he won't be hiding behind a CGI creature. I'm glad to see that he'd be excited about working with Marvel, and I hope they will have many sequels for GOTG.
But he isn't drax and Bautista is, and Bautista is twice the size. And from the footage he looks damn awesome.
Vin Diesel is Groot!
The star of the Fast and the Furious and Riddick franchises will lend his voice to Groot in Marvel's live-action "Guardians of the Galaxy," rounding out the team that includes Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax (Dave Bautista).
Featured in four of the six movies in the fan-favorite Fast & Furious franchise, Diesel has helped the series gross over $2 billion at the box office; and will reprise his role in Fast & Furious 7. Diesels most recent film, Riddick, the third film in the franchise that has so far earned a cumulative $267.3 million across the globe, debuted this year at the top of the box office. In addition to lending his voice to several video games, Diesels received great acclaim for his voice work in the celebrated animated film The Iron Giant, directed by Brad Bird.
In the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an unlikely cast of characters including Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket Raccoon must join forces to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. Directed by James Gunn, the live-action "Guardians of the Galaxy" will take fans to new corners of the Marvel Universe when it hits theaters August 1, 2014, but in the meantime stay tuned to Marvel.com for the latest news as it breaks, including official casting, first looks and more!
