Today I woke up to alot of fake Security Center Alerts. I closed them out and thought nothing of it. But every 2 mins I get new pop up alerts such as "Security Center Alert", "Active Security network security alert and I looked onto my desktop to see alot random porn files on there.I tried restarting comp but it didn't help

I tried to scan my comp with my normal protection program (McAfee) but it says "Scanner has recovered a problem from which it can't recover. here are the problem details: Error Starting On Demand Scanner"

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell XPS 400

Please help

Some pics on what's happening

ctrl alt delete and go to your processes

then go to www.processlibrary.com and type in any that look odd to you. if any come up as viruses, you need to search for those files on your comp and delete them

And it should also be noted that, if you are trying to rid your computer of a virus, it is always best to do it all while in safe mode, particularly without networking if you can. I would then run your virus scanner(s), and pick off any remnants of the virus from your computer that your antivirus doesn't get using information from the web. Such as which exe's to delete, and which registry keys and startup items to remove. But be extra careful about the sites you choose to use, and be even more careful when you are deleting registry items.

I am getting the SAME Virus issue... i've run a few scans and it's said it removed a trojan and that my computer is clean, but still having the same problems.

I'm now running the Maleware scan from the link above.

CC, as for checking processes...
It sais my computer is running 60 processes right now. If I type a process into the process library and it comes up as unknown, can I end that process?

Also run superantispyware. it's really good and finding things and getting rid of it.

Yes, the malware scan rid me of that "Security Center Alert" thing.

I still need to know about the processes though.

i would at least run a google on it before ending it. maybe something will come up there if it doesn't on processlibrary.

programs will start back up when you restart your computer so you can either end them everytime, or try looking to see what runs from startup and maybe you can remove from there
