Do you think it's true that she is crane mother and that she'll pop up in iron fist? I hope so.

I wonder what sort of relationship she will have with davos? That was his mark on the bags of heroin right?

She's awesome, had such a presence about her. Her Mandarin was a bit affected and theatrical but it's probably intended. The only person to make Matt cough up blood with one blow.

I've been posting this Interview with Steven DeKnight about the season in various threads (I really should just start a new thread, I guess). Still, he was asked about Madame Gao and I thought it was worth sharing:

There's obviously something going on there, as well as with the heroin she’s selling, stamped with the symbol of the Steel Serpent. Could that be another tie-in to Iron Fist? Time will tell. There is obviously more to her than meets the eye. I got a message from Ed Brubaker who asked, “Is Madame Gao Crane Mother?” I can’t even tell you!

As someone who has no knowledge of Iron Fist, seeing Gao knock Matt back blew my mind!!! Later research hinted at her being Crane Mother and how she flew back to K'Un L'Un or whatever and it got me so much more hyped for Iron Fist now!

Other. Her relationship with Daniel Rand is a lot more complicated. Basically, she's the leader of a rival heavenly city, who for various reasons wants to humble Kun Lun and its champion, the Iron Fist. She has nothing in particular against Danny, other than that he happens to be the Iron Fist at the moment.

Crane Mother wouldn't make sense though. Why would a leader of a heavenly city sell drugs in New York? I think she is definitely K'un-L'unian in nature, but I think she isn't anything huge like Crane Mother.

I do wonder how Marvel plans to tie in the Iron Fist narrative to the building Hand story.

yeah, but why New York? Unless they make Crane Mother corrupt and somehow in leagues with the Hand or in competition to get that particular piece of land (which the letters translated put to say "Black Sky").
