Wait, wait...WAIT! Aquaman was real?

Like an Aquaman movie would do anything but flop...like a fish out of water! (I'm so clever)

Isn't the guy reading a teleprompter though? So it's not really his mistake is it?

If done right Aquaman could really do well. Star Wars underwater...I could see it.

somebody took that joke Entourage ad that they took out in Variety WAY too seriously....

go Vinny Chase!

I hate Entourage

I bought the S1 DVD set this summer b/c "EVERYONE" talked it up SOOOO much, and how it was SOOO clever. Not just TV critics & magazines, but friends of mine too....

...So I've watched, like, the first four episodes and this is the most shallow self-absorbed show I've seen. I can't enjoy it b/c none of the characters are likable. I mean, a couple of them are funny (Jeremy Piven & Kevin Dillon) but no one has any redeemable quality!

I mean, they're getting high in every episode:down  I know it's supposed to be smug w/all the celebrity cameos, but you get the feeling celebs do it, and are still smug a##holes at the end of the day.

REAL disappointment! I don't wanna PAY to watch actors pretend to take drugs and waste money...I get the feeling that's all they do in hollywood, and i think that sucks!

It's relatively amusing, but it's nothing I would ever follow. I hate how everyone is so gay for it. Especially this one friend of mine....keeps talking about it ALL THE TIME and I hate it to death. GAWD!

Oh, and on the morning radio shows, all they ever say is "hug it out, b*tch!" over and over, EVERY morning...**** about this show!

I hate people who want characters in tv to be likeable.:down:mad:

I want my characters ****ing *******s. I want them to be despisable, loathsome beings who everyone wants to kill.

No, I like Sopranos, The Shield, stuff like that, but a comedy supposed to be semi-endearing and how am i supposed to laugh at someone if i can't stand them?

That's like saying "I love my boss's stupid jokes b/c they're funny, but I hate him because he's an a$$hole to me and he's keeps me buried in work, and makes me look bad in front of his boss..."

NO!

Satire does not need likeable characters. Satire demands UNLIKEABLE characters.

Why would you laugh AT someone you like?

how would Aquaman break any records? I mean, I know like, 3 people in the entire world who would see the damn thing...

What is there to laugh at? They spend lots of money on expensive crap & drugs most of the time...what's funny? Laughing at them for getting high? Using money to sleep with desperate L.A. women?

The reader is a secret Aquaman fan and is trying to plant the idea of a movie that would break the box office in the minds of the people

Yes. Laughing at the vapidity of Hollywood.

I don't get people who don't get satire:confused:

“Oh, so you saw that two-page ad in Variety too, the one where HBO's pretty brilliant marketing team ran a fake ad touting the returns on Aquaman — the blockbuster at the center of Entourage's plotline. It got a lot of people talking, exactly what HBO was aiming for. But CNBC's Joe Kernan also got to talking. Except he didn't know the ad was fake. He didn't know the movie was fake. Though the absence of irony as he delivers the weekend box office draw? That's the only thing that's not fake.”

He's probably a Hype member who is just stoked for the rumoured upcoming Aquaman movie.

^^Probably...man, us geeks are coming up!

What's with the Aqua-hate, BTW? All I know is if James Cameron really directed Aquaman it could be GREAT. There really is a LOT of potential with that character.
