I doubt this belongs in Politics, though it's probably linked somehow. I've recently started to watch Homeland, and certain things have happened (I'm only on episode 9) that again makes me see just how crappy it all is.

I think, often times, people promote [our] soldiers and [our] country whilst forgetting about all the families (innocent or otherwise) that die in our wake. We're always told a one sided story, and whilst I don't doubt there are some horrible people out there in the world that do need dealing with, I think we should all take a moment to remember it's not as black and white as the media and politicians often portray.

Homeland is just one example here; I've seen other shows with similar elements, and I've watched enough documentaries to ask my own questions about the truth.

Just something I thought worth a mention and/or discussion.

Yeah, it's a tough subject to talk about in many circles as an American. It almost feels like a sin to MANY folks when one talks bad about the troops/Military. Very touchy subject. I appreciate that so and so are ''fighting for our freedom'', but there is a lot of innocent blood and destruction we leave behind. I do feel like certain rightwing folks have taken the image of the military and placed it on their banner. Eh, all very touchy subject.
