Would Dragonball have bombed no matter what? What could have been changed to make this movie a smash success?

Better script, More time not a rushed film... Over and hour and a half... more character develpoment... a studio who takes thier films seriously(WB) and a director who isnt afraid to stand out (Synder,Del Toro). DB could be a very healthy,Epic,Amazing Franchise.

Absolutely. With a better director, a studio that actually gave a ****, and a more talented cast, it could be a sight to behold.

In a Post The Matrix Trilogy/Kung Fu Hustle/The Legend of the Drunken Master world along with the Dragonball mythos as your guideline, there is no excuse as to why Dragonball had to become such a worthless product like DB:E.

Just thinking of the other possibilities frustrates me. Oh well.

Imagine how effin sweet it would have been if Peter Jackson or Guillermo del Toro got a hold of it.

i think DB is a project better suited for the Wachowski's. imo, the Wachowski's should be consultants for ALL major Hollywood productions based on anime.

Oh ya good call. I would love to see them direct and have del Toro's character design team in the mix.

del Toro would make a movie where a dog is a president and it wouldnt look strange hehe.

As much as any comic book based movie is, yes. I know I said I'd leave but I lie a lot, so I'm back and I'm on my day off so I'm free to talk **** online. This is seriously disappointing, to see dragonball fail to return after such a long absence. Chatwin and Marsters probably feel like they wasted time now. Sure they'll both go back to doing other movies and stuff, but it's such a shame they truly put their all into this thing and it came back to sting them when all bay has to do is put some **** and ass on screen and have a bunch of splosions and make millions that way. I wish it did ok at least, but to bomb? worse movies have done better... damn it's speed racer all over again for me.

I'll never do this anticipating a movie thing so seriously again that's for sure. I'm getting too old for it and life's just too short.

As for what could have made it better? Stephen Chow directing, that's all. This movie felt too held back to me. Chow would have had Goku pull bulma's panties off at night and all the ridiculous crap from the manga since that's just how he rolls in his movies. Now that I think about it, street fighter the movie was more like dragonball than dragonball the movie was. Seriously, think about it.

the wachowski's? oh please, they'd turn dragonball into an upper division philosophy class

very much so........but not under Fox's watch.

This.

And unfortunately, Fox might try to give a reboot treatment a few years down the line, like what they are contemplating with Marvel's Fantastic Four. At long Fox has the right, Dragonball will never get a movie that is faithful to the manga and anime that inspired it.

Warner Bros lucked out when they selected Nolan to be direct the new Batman films. They have a very spotty history of screwing up franchises and movies that should've worked. Fox does suck but ever since "Dark Knight" everyone acts like Warner has been the beacon of light for fans

WB learned from their past mistakes. Fox seems to have A.D.H.D.V.D.T.V right now and can't seem to learn from their mistakes.

WB gave me

TDK
Watchmen
V For Vendetta
Harry Potter Series
300
Blood Diamond
The Departed
Batman Begins

trust them more than FOX lol

at least WB is actually taking risks.

Look at Ninja Assassain. It's a NINJA starring an UNKNOWN ASIAN ACTOR. This is mainstream too.

Look at Where the Wild Things Are. Directed by Spike Jonzes, it looks very indie cool.

So yeah, I think WB is on a roll now.

AMBITION.

Even a chick flick from Japan has more daring fight scenes than this dreck. I kid you not.

By Hollywood, no chance in hell.

I personally still feel Dragon Ball, the true Dragon Ball is basically unfilmable.

For years everyone said Watchmen was unfilmable.Dragonball is very filmable but it needs the right director and script.

Project862006, dragonball is not unfilmmable. It has just as much a chance to being a good onscreen movie as any other comic book character.

Del Toro made Hellboy look great on a, compared to other comic book heroes, low budget. I think he would make a pretty good director to helm this project (if it ever gets another chance)

Alot of people think Peter Jackson could do well...i also see how that could work. Dragonball, IMO, is primarily adventure with evil looming on the horizon. Jackson has already tackled similair in this LOTR trilogy. Of course, it woudl depend if Jackson appreciates dragonball to a point where he'd like to helm it.

I do believe we'll get another chance at a Dragonball movie....someday

Synders/Del Toro/Wachowskis Are my Dream Directors for a DB Franchise.
