Eddie calling Peter "bro"? Where did they get that from? If I remember correctly Eddie and Peter were NEVER close.

Am I the only one?

They took some liberties. The story with Eddie/ Venom has always been a little weak, so they tweaked it to try to make it stronger. I like(d) it.

...I suppose. It just doesn't feel right...I like that Gwen is his love interest and Betty...

In the Ultimate Universe Peter and Eddie are close friends. I believe SSM's crew followed this approach of the story.

I don't even read comics, lol. I just go by what I hear.

Right on...

Oh well, they can do it however they want. I just don't like it :/

Yea they took the look of 616 eddie but took the background of ultimate eddie for the show. As we know the show was more about taking stuff from the classic comics-through the movies, and adding their own spin on things.

I view that as pleasing everybody and making the show more interesting

Well, they're close frinds in the Ultimate universe, as someone said. Even though i'm not really a huge fan of the ultimate series, I think the relationship works greatly for the show.

Yea i dont see anything wrong with taking the best elements from the classics, ultimate and the movies. They made good choices at using all the aspects from comics to movies.

I like Eddie calling Peter, "bro". Oh and people saying that Spectacular Eddie brock has the personality of his Ultimate version, that is true but Venom's intelligence is highly not that of Ultimate's since ultimate venom pretty much eats people and acts more like a beast while spectacular venom plans his attack on Spider-man and knows how to fight.

Personally I like what they did with Spectacular Venom- as has been mentioned above, the original character's motivations for hating Spidey were rather thin, to say the least, and so pretty much every AU or adaptation seems to try and beef them up. Eddie and Peter being close friends works because it gives the two characters a great deal of history with each other, and the fiercest hatreds can come from friendship crashed and burned. It also ads a greater element of tragedy to the Venom character and his relationship with Spider-man.

Did you watch to the end of season 1? Although it was odd at the beginning the relationship between the two characters was explained during the course of the season and especially in the last arc.

Yes, this is different to 616 comics but then there were other changes e.g. the Montana as Shocker spin that I would have thought would bother you more.

Imho I thought all the changes made good sense.

what most struck me was Aunt May, who my friend says is an EAILF (EA standing for Elderly Aunt). Seriously, check it Aunt May is Sexy as Hell

The show is poorly written.

...There ya have it.
Poorly written?

Developed characters, main and supporting?
Well-constructed plotlines?
Excellent pacing across seasons?
Expertly balancing humour, action and tragedy?

That's poorly written?

yea the show has great writing, good comedy, and action and great development with the characters. Out of all the other past spidey toons from 60s-early 00s this one has done the best with all that.

I will admit, the show itself didn't show them as being very "bro-like" at all. If it wasn't for the dialog you'd never think they were more than acquaintances who hadn't seen each other for a while until SSM started.

Same with Ultimate, they were pals when they were kids and then didn't see each other for 10 years and acted like they were all close and stuff.
