Hell that belt isnt even a belt. It is held on with Velcro to the pants.
Neither was the one Reeve wore. In fact, his cape was held on with Velcro too just like Routh wore.
It was goofed on in FHM for its feminine leanings. There were reports of people going into stores and seeing it on the display stands for merchandise advertising and being called the banned word. It was a failure and too far a departure from the classic suit no matter how you guys try to spin it.
Nice to make that up with saying people see it at display stand for merchandise ad. & call it word you can't say here. And too far a departure? I guess Supes wearing a cape, boots, trunk, etc. were too far of a departure then, 'cause that what he wore in SR. If he is wearing a cape, boots, trunk, belt, etc., then it is a classic suit. It classic with some change, that is.
And in America, we goof on Speedo's. Hell, they were banned on beaches in a few states because people wearing them had been beaten up.
Those people who beat up men for wearing speedo must be jealous they don't look good in one. So they decide to make themself feel better by being an ass & beat up those men in speedo. No wonder jealous isn't a good thing.
When a guy wears a speedo in an American movie, the usual point of having the male character wear it is for a laugh.
Just like Supes wearing red trunk on the outside of his brightly, feiminie costume, wheter it on Reeve or Routh or Cain, etc. If Supes never wore red trunk from the beginning when Siegel & Shuster created him, I'm sure people would laugh at it if it was being used for the first time onscreen like in 2000. No matter which kind it was., it would still get laughter. I'm sure there are some who still laugh at Reeve's trunk.
Is it that it is okay for them to have put womens cut panties on SuperMAN?
Better than wearing granny panties with what some of the previous actors wore, I'm sure. Beside, I thought you claim the SR look more like a speedo when you brought up the speedo talk eariler. The trunk & belt always look feminie from this generation right now compare to the old days where many comic books were sillier. Why else some fans don't want him to wear the trunk & belt nowdays? Exactly. They think it too girly looking on him & make him less heroic looking.
