Batman and Robin (the movie) has many times been compared to a toy commercial, and I agree with the people who make that statement. Schumacher even said in the 2005 DVD that they let the toy company on board during production to make suggestions. What I'm wondering is- Were the toys even successful? Did they even sell that well? Was it worth it to give Batman a horrible name, ruin the franchise for almost a decade, and to waste fan's time, money, and hype? Sorry if I'm ranting but I'm just wondering if those toys sold well at all.

Batman toys always sell well. Look at Power Rangers. Damn show is still on the air cause the toys are selling. :csad:

I'm sure the toy companies made a pretty penny. Didn't McDonald's have something big to do with it too?

There has been more money made from merchendising of the Batman films than the actual movies themselves.

Seems like Batman Forever had the biggest amount of toys released for the film.

^ Are you sure about that? I recall B89 had a s--tload of toys.

The McDonald's story is from Batman Forever. They insisted Joel have the Batmobile drive by the famous Arch of MickeyD's

The toys and other merchandise did very well for B&R, it was basically a continuation from the on going juggernaut Forever had. There was even a new wave of Forever figs on the pegs when the intial release for B&R hit. They also released the toys 3 months prior to the films release, I remember walking into Wal Mart seeing this huge black and red bat display, I about wet myself. lol Also the WB stores had some very nice items. Yeh, you include all the merchandising with the box office, the Batman movies are unstoppable.

Atleast Joel had the balls to say that it sticks in the background.

Hey...the Power Rangers movie with Ivan Ooze rocked my socks...and yours.

Kimberly is a hot biatch.

....but yeah seeing as how the original Power Rangers are probably like 38 now I'd have to say that they've dragged on the series for quite a while.

Tommy still appears regularly on the show.

I wasn't talking about the movie. I was talking about the TV show that should have ended 10 years ago.

Kimberly is a hot biatch.

Agreed.

None of the original cast members are on the show. Every year they get a new cast. Its been like that since PRiS.

Tommy still appears regularly on the show.

He hasn't been on since 2004.

I felt "appears regularly" had more impact than "last appeared in 2004".

I remember that!

I don't understand why McDonalds seemed to be the driving force for the batman movies. There are many other restaurants that they could have made tie-in deals with.

None that can pay as much and have as much advertising as McDonalds. Or attract as many kids. A Batman Happy Meal is promotion for the movie.

Batman - Taco Bell
Batman Returns - McDonalds
Batman Forever - McDonalds
Batman & Robin - Taco Bell

Batman Begins - sadly nothing. I wanted a cup damnit!

I find it ironic that the toy company took over film production of B&R. It was the one film where I actually hated the figures.

B89- I got the batcave, Batmobile and all the figures right down to Bob the Goon.
BR- Again, all the figures, plus Robin, and the little armed penguins.
BF- Another Batcave, another Batmobile, the Batboat and Batwing, and all the characters.
B&R- The Redbird and Batcycle, Poison Ivy and Mr Freeze. And I hated them! The figures were out of proportion to my previous ones, whereas my BTAS figures were the same size as my movie ones, B&R ones sucked. They didn't even look like the actors.

I'm jealous of you! I couldn't keep them in a good condition.

I...don't...have...them...anymore...:csad: :O

I had so many figures and sets, but I lost interest in Batman around '97 (can't think why) so I sold them all for a measly £50. :csad:

I had a bunch of toys for B89, but they are long gone. :csad:
