Heavily influenced by Liz Allan?

As I think of trying to adapt Liz for the classic comics to the new films I think she would probably have to be a little friendlier ... and that would make her pretty close to the movie Mary Jane. I think they have a lot of similarities (having known Peter for a while, being popular and becoming more sympathetic/interested in Peter after he gains his powers and becomes a bit more confident, initially dating Flash and having an interest in Harry).

Does this interpretation of movie Mary Jane adapting both Liz and MJ make her being Peter's true love better?

I don't know if it "makes their love better" or anything, but I do agree with you that she seems to be inspired a bit by Liz Allan as well. It kind of feels like Raimi either meant to use Liz but ended up changing it to MJ because she mores well known and ends up being his wife anyway, or if he always meant to use MJ but just took lots of inspiration from Liz. Or it's a coincidence. I don't know.
