Was the movie series close enough to comics for you? Was there anything from the comics you think should have been added in the movies?

the storm from x1 was what i remember her being like in the comics and animated series, where did she go in x3, x2 she wasn't bad, the accent would have been nice.

she reminded me the storm of ultimate x-men, which i liked. you know, the street-smart thief. but she was kind of in between and had no real character, which was ashame. i loved the character of storm in the comics.
personally i don't think the moive needed to be just like the comic books... there should be a difference, or there wouldn't be any suspence or creativity whatsoever in the movie. i liked the fact that they tried to make a more realistic movie rather than completely comic-y. i htink it was a shame they didn't include the friends of humanity and the purifyers or any of the subculture the comic book had, which would have made it even more realistic. i even liked the fact that jean grey was bi-polar rather than possesed by an alien in the 3rd film (the only thing i liked about it. it really went with the realistic feeling they tried to creat in the first two films). i hated the character of rogue, though. she was so whiney and demsel-in-distress-y. she should have been more like the rogue of the comic books and the animated series, with the tough exterior and the attitude. or they should have taken the broody gothy thing further instead of making her so weak and annoying.

I think Jean was perfect in X1, specially the intro scene, and then when we first meet Xavier and Magneto. Very comics, ver well done.
Rogue... let's not go there, please I liked her in X1 though she wasn't like in the comics, I was kinda digging it, but then X2 and X3... ok I said I wouldn't go there.
I think Wolverine was great in the 3 of them.
And my most favorite scene, when it comes to being like the comics? X2, when Logan wanders around the house at night and then the rambo guys show up and the kids try to scape and all that. I loved it. Now that's the Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters that I know.

i thought the first two movie were fine. Bryan Singer has a really good grasp in taking these characters, putting them into the real world, and giving you a picture of what its like to be them. the scene in X2 where Bobby "comes out" to his parents is one of the greatest scenes in the whole franchise. it sums up everything the X-Men are about. personally i didnt like that the Xavier Institute was an actual school. i see the sense in it, but i wouldve been more happy if the student body was significantly smaller (maybe the X-Men and New Mutant numbers...).

with the exception of Halle Berry i think all the main X-Men were cast great. she was better in X2, but i still would rather have cast someone with a stronger presence like she has and preferably with the accent. i used to complain that Rogue was too young and it wouldve been better to use Kitty in her place, but Kitty's power is really nothing to get depressed about, and in all X-history no one's had a harder time coping with what they were than Rogue. i can understand casting Bobby in his teens (only a handful of writers are willing to write him over 17 anyway) but they couldve gotten away with making Warren in the 25-30 range especially now that a prequel is in the works. Beast and Nightcrawler were masterfully cast, but Colossus and Kitty were awkward. i dont see Ellen Page as the Kitty i read, and Colossus deserves better than being played by some random club bouncer with no acting experience. they couldve done so much with him during the mansion invasion.

the Brotherhood was fine, but i didnt like Sabertooth's look. hes tought cuz ive only ever liked him in his 90s look, which obviously would never work on film. i actually liked where they went with him in X-O: Wolverine. i did hate how Magneto was the villain in EVERY movie though. granted not really in X2, but he still ended it trying to kill all humans. there's more to X-Men than Xavier vs. Magnus.

im happy with X3 on a pure entertainment level. what Singers films lacked (especially the first) was the epic action we see in the comics, which i feel Ratner did very well. the finale with Phoenix was like straight out of a comic and i commend Ratner for taking it as far as he did. but theres so much that i hate as a follow-up to X2, and as a lover of the comics. Scott killed off-screen in the first 15 min? a danger room sentinel SILHOUETTE? no real face-time or development for the newest X-Men? a fake Psylocke wannabe without a semblence of ANY of the powers shes possessed? "I'M THE JUGGERNAUT *****", really???? but i do feel Fox should stop working backwards and further convoluting the franchise (magic bullet...) and just continue where Last Stand left off. with so many changes at the end they could treat any sequels as a new direction for the franchise- new team, new villains, new challenges, etc.

...either that or Marvel gets the rights back and start all over again in 10 years.

Alot of the elements that come with the responsibility of having a power and dealing with being a mutant were portrayed fantastically on screen. there was some revisions of characters but most of them really felt true to the comics. I'd say ProfessorX, Magneto , Jean Grey , Wolverine , Nightcrawler and Beast were the most impressive.
Cyclops seems more of a leader in the comics than he did in the movie and Rogue was made into Jubilee. Also they decimated Sabretooth by turning him into a goon.
Although it was different from the comics , how they made
the younger x-men was fine by me and it worked for the movies but it was great seeing them work as a team by the end of X-men 3. Unfortunately alot of that movie felt thrown together .
I'd say the biggest difference for me is the action isn't as epic like it is in the comics . Also they did an excellent job making Phoenix believable but killing Cyclops ...what can i say that hasn't been said about that one.

the characters were all wrong, had no personality or elaborations on their backgrounds or anything of that nature! Characters who sucked ass in the movies but were AWESOME in the comics/90s TV show: ROGUE (1st of all - dont even get me started on why they messed up on her), Colossus, JEAN (shes way more of a power house and the Phoenix plot they did sucked and was barely even relevant to the comics), STORM (Ororo is an African Queen and Goddess not to mention super curvy and Amazon-like lets be honest here Halle's an okay actress but nowhere near even being considered to play the all-powerfull Storm), they kept ****in up with kitty and jubilee, almost every characters was an epic fail in my opinion!
characters who didnt suck so bad: Professor, Logan, Magneto, Kurt, and Cyclops wasnt too bad, they sure picked the perfect guy for Beast though im not gonna lie he was perfect!

Considering it was a pg 13- movie

I thought Wolverine was spot on in x1, he was good in x2 but i thought x1 he was spot on.

I thought Magneto was awsome, they made him more of a villain than he was in the comics/animated series, thought it was also cool how they made him to be like a terrorist, i mean you hade the military concerned about him and the x men so that was cool to make him that big of a threat.

Prof X was pretty spot on.

I loved how they made Mystique a central figure, she became really a face of the franchise along with Wolverine,Magneto,Prof X and probably Storm

the 1 thing I would've like to see was Xavier being like Dr. King, speaking out more about human & mutant relations, in the comics he is well known and respected public figure.

Its clear Singer didn't know much about X-Men when X1 was made because characters like Xavier & Magneto should've been fleshed out way more, to me it felt like the "world" in general was just being intro. to the mutant phenom and it didn't go into detail on why Xavier created his school, formed the X-Men and if Magneto and Chuck went their seperate ways years ago...why wasn't the Brotherhood like on America's Most Wanted listed like in the ultimate universe???

I wish Senator Kelly was fleshed out way more...why exactly was he against mutants, and supporting mutant registration? I'm glad we learned why Stryker had mutant issues...

Cyclops was a non-entity throughout, which bugged me. If you added up all his screen time plus deleted scenes it wouldn't fill a half hour. Cycke deserves better than that.

With the exception of Storm in X3, I would argue that all of the characters were marginalized if they weren't integral to Wolverine's plot or character development. Jean and Rogue, for example, only got screen time because they were linked with Wolverine.

From a marketing standpoint I could understand-focus on the most popular one. Likewise I could see a JLA movie placing undue emphasis on Batman. That doesn't mean I agree with it from a storytelling standpoint. I remember a lot of fans referred to "Wolverine" as "Wolverine 4" & they're not far off.

Well, I don't know if it's Halle or the writers writing Storm poorly, but she could've been a much better character if they stuck a bit more to the comics. She was totally over-looked in my opinion.

And I share your pain Katie. I was really happy to see my (our) boy appear, but he is so much better than Wolvie... Ok, ok, at least equal and they made him look like the prettyboy who doesn't like to get his hands dirty... or so to speak.

Attention isn't justice. So they upgraded her powers & gave her a couple of additional fight scenes. As far as I'm concerned she got screwed. I'm surprised they bothered to include her at all.
