after a second viewing, I realized that there are really only 2 scenes with Clark. Was this enough of the character. There's his arrival scene which leads to the bar scene, and then there was the scene where he was 'working' with Lois and Richard. The only other scene that really happens is when they are in the elevator, then she dumps all her bagage on him.

Was there enough Clark in this movie? I say, the movie could have done with another 5 minutes of Clark going about being clark. It's not a big deal, but it could have had a little more. It just feels like they brushed Clark aside to get Supes out there as fast as possible.

there's not enough Clark Kent, Superman or Lex Luthor for me...

...i think it should've been 7 hours longer, hehe.

I'm with you on that, but I think they dropped the ball a little. Clark Kent (the reporter) feels like he was almost eliminated from the formula... and only appeared in the movie, because he needed to be there to appease peops who know the story.

I'll wait to see the DVD before judging. I think we have about 20-30 mins of Kal-El/Clark on there.

Obviously they wouldnt cut most of the Superman stuff from the film. Practially all Supe's scenes are expensive.

i didn't think there was too little of Clark...

...if you think about it, Clark (in Metropolis) was only in 2 scenes (that i can remember) in the original film too.

I would of liked to see more Clark, but it didnt ruin the film at all.

agreed. I'd love to see more cut scenes of clark kent reporter on the DVD. But I kind of want them to save the 'vacation on krypton' for the sequel. It just seems like the concept of visiting krypton could have some really interesting implications that would play out well to bring about a sequel. It works on the level, that it is another implications of Superman's departure from his home. It would work to connect the first and second movie (superman leaving, and coming back and dealing), and would jive well with the continuity arc of Supes, Lois, and Jason (another result of his departure from earth).

just on a fanboy fantasy tangent, I'd love to see Jason's part in the story be tied directly to Superman's visit to Old Krypton in some way.

i could have watched a whole movie just called "clark kent" with the way that routh played him. he was flipping great. the best clark, comic, movie, tv show, or cartoon wise.

there wasnt enough Kal-El in the movie! :(

I'd love to have seen more Clark, but I liked the movie. Hopefully we'll get a sequel with more Clark-time. And more of Lois and he actually talking (no matter what outfit he's in)

of course...there was perfect amounts of Clark and Superman!

dude that is so unnecessary.

pulling out a race card. so typical of a Post-Crisis freak who cant accept the changes happenign in the DC Universe.

It felt like there was just enough Clark, but there wasn't enough for me to really get to know Clark...if that makes any sense. He was just blank...but again this is pre-crisis and not post-crisis (f-ing shame), so Clark is not a real fleshed out persona...though I think Singer should flesh him out in the next film. It would be a good idea...just like the kid:) I just hope he executes this one better, and I'm sure he will because SR2 is going to hot like X2...it has to be..

Well all the scenes with Clark were his scenes on the farm that were cut because the dialogue in those scenes addressed Clark not sure whether the world still needs Superman and him not sure if he should put on the suit. This whole plot point was removed from the film, now Clark just puts the suit on without a second thought. Seriously Superman has never questioned his place in the world by being an orphan, that's Singer, he is an orphan. Thank goodness he cut that sobplot from the movie because Superman never questioned who he is, he was raised by wonderful human parents, and he never had to find out who his biological parents are because he gets to talk to them in the FOS.

I think SR kind of blurred the line b/w pre and post crisis. Anybody agree?

After seeing the film a second time this afternoon...there's alot of Clark in the film and there could've been more had Richard not existed.

If you watch the film again, Clark tries many, many times to try and talk to Lois one and one about things...just to catch up. But the problem is Superman and Richard.

With Superman, he's back and that sends her emotions everywhere. She doesn't know up from down and that's why she's so off putting to Clark. Her mind is on other things.

With Richard, when Clark does have a chance, Richard is there and in a way, Richard has replaced Clark in the newsroom. He tries to find his place but it's hard. And the sad thing about the whole situation is that Clark sees that Richard is a good, honest man.

This is why we see more Superman swoon over Lois than Clark. Clark does in fact try but because of certain situations, he can't get close enough to talk.

He has one moment when they're alone in the newsroom but and Lois does ask if he's found a place to stay. The conversation was about to take off but again, Lois pops back into Superman's mind and she takes off.

So, while yes, there technically isn't enough Clark, he's not underused at all....given the context of the situations.

It would have been nice for at least one good, quality friend scene between Clark and Lois. At least pave a foundation for Clark to seduce her instead of relying on the revelation of his alter-ego to get into her pants.

exactly... he was just nerdy enough to be lovable, but serious enough to be taken seriously.
