with some of the slightly disappointing box office numbers, it got me to thinking....

with all the internet buzz and talk, I don't ever remember watching a trailer that had the obligatory "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF X-MEN".... swooooosh!!!

if I'm forgetful, insult me, forgive me, and forget..... :D

...Singer is a household name to all of us, but I bet you the average movie viewer had no idea who is making Superman.

Mixing DC with Marvel and WB with Fox...never happen.

i may be wrong, but i swore i saw one of the latest tv spots spell out "From the director of X-Men"...

hmmm..lemme go check.

I believe the international trailer did. Didn't see most of the TV spots, though.

The average movie goer doesn't give two ****s about directors.

Yes they do, but not because of who he is, because of what he made. If you tell the average movie dude that this movie was made by the guy who made "X-Men" they might stop for a sec and think, "Wow, I really loved that superhero flick. He might do justice to this film. Can't wait for it!" ;)

Also, with X3 coming out so close to SR, people may have gotten the impression that it was the same director.

And there was a great deal of love lost between Singer and Fox when he decided to do SR. That may also have factored into the decision not to use X-Men to help promote SR.

So, you never seen movies made by directors such as Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, or Ridley Scott advertised about who directed those movies? Face it, average movie goers do give two cent about who directed the movie, because it can influence whether or not they go see the movie.

i remember one of the documentaries/ interviews saying that "Bryan Singer, who directed The Usual Suspects and the first two X-Men movies....."

yes there is a tv spot that opens with "from the director of x-men", goes to a shot of Supes leaning and then closes with Supes' superbreath.

I've already seen a tv spot saying:From the director of X-MEN, and X-MEN II.

The last TV spot I saw mentioned via text that it was "from the director of X-Men II"

Yeah one of the TV spots had "From the director of X1 and X2 and from the Usual suspects...."

no i think it was tv spot 17 had them sayin from director bryan singer..nothin more

I saw it on TV man. And it had him flying down from the stratosphere.

Yup, latest tv spot has "From the director of X-Men & X2"... it came on a few times today while I was watching SmackDown! on Sportsnet Canada.

I'm not sure the Box Office numbers are disappointing yet.
That was only the first day, we've still got 3 more days of the weekend.

Singer, Raimi and Nolan are well known in the geek world, but they are nowhere near a Spielberg as far as name value alone to the average joe. When someone can mention Bryan Singer by name and have a non geek or someone not in the industry know him, then he's made it.

Then why did I see an SR trailer attached to X3 when I saw it?
