"Watch Dogs" Movie At Sony Confirmed

By Garth Franklin Tuesday August 20th 2013 01:44PM
Sony Pictures Entertainment, New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures are teaming for a film version of the upcoming videogame "Watch Dogs" which hits stores in November.
"Watch Dogs" is an open world game that revolves around information warfare. The action is set in an alternate but contemporary Chicago where a supercomputer called ctOS controls almost every piece of technology in the city.
The player has the ability to hack into various electronic systems, either to obtain and control information or to destroy those devices completely at specific times.
Ubisoft's head honcho Yves Guillemot appeared at Gamescom 2013 in Germany this evening where the news was announced.
Columbia Pictures’ president of production Hannah Minghella said in a statement shortly after: "The themes and open gameplay of Watch Dogs lends itself perfectly to the big screen. The game has intense action and adventure, but the story focuses on information and the control of information, which we think will lead to an exciting thriller.”

i like the game trailers. it looks like a story that would work very good in a 2 hour movie.

Jeez the game isn't even out yet.

It could be good but for some reason I don't see this working. I think the idea that you can control absolutely everything from a phone is great for an open world game but I think the average joe would think it is too stupid for a film.

"Zombieland" Scribes Pen "Watch Dogs" Film

By Garth Franklin Thursday April 24th 2014 12:05PM
"Zombieland" scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been set to pen the live-action feature based on Ubisoft's highly anticipated video game "Watch Dogs".
Sony Pictures, New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures Group are developing the film which follows Aiden Pearce, a hacker who turns the city of Chicago into his personal stomping grounds to carry out his own brand of justice after a violent family tragedy.
He's aided by his ability to tap into Chicago's ctOS, a centralized operating system that runs the entire city's infrastructure. This gives him control of everything including traffic lights, surveillance cameras, subway systems and power grids, along with access to people's personal information.
The project is one of three that Sony, New Regency and Ubisoft are developing together - the other two being the Tom Hardy-led "Splinter Cell" and the Michael Fassbender-led "Assassin's Creed".

well......the game better not suck and bomb then...........lol

But it being Sony doing the movie, it'll stay in development hell. The current people at Sony/Columbia have no idea what gold mine they're sitting on with their game properties just waiting to become movies.

They should just go straight to watch dogs 2 I reckon. Get John Boyega for Marcus. Nat Wolff for Josh. Ezra Miller for Wrench and Michelle Trachtenberg for Sitara

I got as far as "Sony Pictures" ....

Hope this movie doesnt get downgraded in graphics. I still cannot believe what they did to this game. I guess movie trailer will look amazing, but then they gonna release it being filmed on a camcorder.

I hope its good so it would help a Watch Dogs 4 videogame from happening.

Though the timing of this is weird. No new game for over 3 years now and its the first Ubisoft live action movie since Assassin's Creed.
