TheWB.com is finally up and running. Right now, they're only streaming the first five eps from Season One, but it's still in Beta mode right now. I know a bunch of you have been on WBTV's case about getting their SV content online.

Its region coded. None for us outside the US

they need to put this show up on iTunes already

I'm surprised they haven't gone the itunes route yet...I know I would probably put a few episodes on my ipod.

Well thats cool i remember hearing about the wb.com site happening. hopefully they will get more episodes up soon.

Yea once itunes got big i am surprised wb/now cw never decided to put it on there.

I don't see what's the WB's or CW's problem! Other Networks are offereing HDTV online in full screen for their shows! :cmad: I watch Terminator SCC's and LOST on my 24" Dell monitor plus a ton more shows on my puter at home. I don't understand why Smallville can't follow unless it's DC Comics that won't allow it but I think they'd get more viewers! "Lost" had minimal commercials too during the online web show so I'm sure they can do something so people can watch on demand. I still buy the DVD's. :supes:

Yea, I usually watch Eureka a second time online the day after it airs...just because I guess.

I would probably do the same for Smallville if they would put it on.

Honestly I think it may have something to do with the whole Superboy lawsuit. If WB loses and if Smallville is deemed to be Superboy than Siegel would be entitled to a cut of any and all residuals that came in until that time. WB may not be putting it up there because they'd want to delay making downloads available until after that mess is sorted out. Theoretically if the show is viewable online/downloadable, the Siegels could go after any ad revenue generated from people viewing the content which opens up a whole other can of ugly worms.

The superboy lawsuit was over a long time ago. And also looks like its not in much effect any more since superboy prime who the last few yrs was going by superman prime is back to superboy name. Or so i heard online.

Actually thats no true at all, the Superboy decision was never settled. A Court accepted DC's appeal of the original ruling and both parties were tryng to negotiate a settlement, but were unable to, and now it is on hold until the separate Superman litigation gets handled.

here's 2 links for you, the last one actually reiterates my point about the downloads:

The court is setting aside ruling on the remaining issues in the Superboy case, along with setting the Superboy trial dates, until after the Superman trial is over

There is still an ongoing lawsuit regarding Superboy. This lawsuit and how royalties need to be paid to someone other than the studio and producers is why that Smallville is not available to view online on the CW website even though many of their other shows are. If the Superboy suit were decided tomorrow- we would probably see Smallville episodes showing up online next season. It is doubtful this will be resolved that quickly.

International rights are not affected but the US is. This is also why the only place you now can find Smallville repeats is on HDNet which is a Warner/Universal jointly owned network the same way the CW is a CBS/Warner network.

The lawsuit that has just been settled means the Siegel family will get a big chunk of change from the profits of Superman Returns. There is an open injunction against Brian Singer producing another Superman movie by them as well- guess they didn’t like the movie. The question about the JLA film and use of Superman in it is now in question as well.

The Superman issues even affect the syndication of Lois & Clark which had its airings overlap the legal issues.
Read the full write up HERE with all of the legal ramification and detail.

Ah ok thanks for the update i thought the superboy stuff was solved awhile back, but i dont really get into the whole court stuff really.

Smallville season 8 is now available on iTunes!

that means soon they will have older seasons..

I just downloaded it from iTunes, it's about time they also have Heroes season 2 on there now also!

I am so surpised its actually on I tunes, hopefully they will put older seasons up. Also i wonder why its on I tunes now and all that since i read the only reason we havent had smallville episodes online at official sites like wb/cw official sites, hulu, Itunes, etc..... is due to the superboy legal issues and all that.

they must have worked out a deal. they did with NBC (who was not on iTunes last year because of a disagreement with the cost of the episodes).

Yea who knows the real reason its cool its there now and people will probably start dling it alot and show cw how good the show is still.
