What do you think Watchmen will get as a rating from MPAA?

Based on the comic I'm thinking it has to be R.

If so will WB release it that way?

300 did well so don´t think they´d have a problem giving it an R rating

Good we need more adult comic book movies. 300 and V for Vendetta were perfect...

Kinda funny how much you people care about ratings. In the Netherlands it's just a little mark on the poster. Here, one of the first things people wonder is what the rating is gonna be. Weird.

I'm from Ireland, and as far as whether or not a young person can see an R-rated film it's not a big deal either, the reason people wonder what rating a movie will get is because that rating gives an idea of the content of the movie, as in Watchmen's case it should be R, given the adult nature of the comic

Yeah but you also have the kind of people who 'need'it to make 'boxoffice predictions' something I couldn't care less about. Some people do.

That was my motivation for asking the question, will the film be 'toned down' for a lower rating even though the material is definitely R in my opinon.

Warners would be stupid to release this as anything other than a PG-13.

Warners would ruin this property by releasing it as anything other than R.

i don't think there is any debate over whether or not it will receive an R rating. the real question is, if they include everything, sex, rape, and killing of a pregnant lady, will it be in danger of receiving an nc-17? i hope not. they shouldn't cut anything because it's all pretty important character development.

Christ, you guys are naive about the movie biz. This will be lucky to get an R; there's no way it'll get an NC-17. It will more likely be PG-13.

Face it, you silly fan boys, this will be softened from the comics. Warners isn't spending almost $150M for a film that only fanboys will want to see. :whatever:

Yes, because Zack Snyder really softened 300.

The movie will be rated R - Snyder himself has said so.

Both Zack Snyder AND the studio itself are a-ok with an R-rating. It won't be softened, and you're right Warners isnt spending $150 million on this. They're most likely spending somewhere under $100 million.

That's funny. Uni passed when the budget grew to $130M. And it's supposed to have gone up from there. Don't know how they'll get it under 100M... :whatever:

I heard somewhere in the region of $60-75M.

The cast and shooting location certainly hasn't broken the bank. I guess that's what happens when you really push for that R rating.

My faith grows more and more every day for Zack Snyder. Eventually we'll all look back and even maybe appreciate Dawn of the Dead, but for now, I honestly think he may be the absolute perfect choice for this. He knows what to do and he probably will pull it off at an R-rating and give everyone the Watchmen movie that they want...

you are incorrect sir. i know enough about the movie business, and in this case, the rating system. snyder won't do the movie without the rape of sally jupiter. and he won't do it without other integral violent and sadistic scenes. it's a guaranteed R. there's no way it will be rated pg-13. i'm sure they are going to advertise it as an adult oriented drama. rather than a teen oriented action movie.

Zak himself said Watchmen will be getting a R rating he said he wants to make the first rated R comicbook movie...

This movie couldn't be a pg 13 film or it wouldn't Watchmen. There needs to more R rated comic book movies. I love to see a batman get one so we could see Joker do what he does best.

he said that, then someone brought up blade. and he quips, "blade? really?" which was pretty hilarious. but then you got V and Road to Perdition, From Hell, and History of Violence. he said superhero movie though. so i guess technically none of those are superheroes. blade hunts vampires and the rest just aren't superheroes.

r-rated joker movie would be pretty awesome, i hope wb warms up to that idea.
