The Dark Knight Rises Wayne Enterprises...Bankrupt or?

Bruce has to be written like Begins it shouldn't be just Batman vs the villain.

I couldn't resist. Seriously though, those are some good ideas for Bruce Wayne. My biggest fear is that the character might get lost and in fact I thought he did get lost in TDK.

Yeah, it would certainly be nice for Bruce to really plant his roots in the ground. In both movies he's been very wavery as a character. I think after what happened with Harvey he likely sees that he can't rely on other people to take up his mantle as Gotham's hero so that he can escape from being trapped for his whole life as the Batman persona.

There are other aspects in which I felt he got lost too. The similarities between his reactions to things in TDK and himself as a little boy in Begins were pretty interesting. And he's also still walking that tightrope linking 'shallow playboy' to 'noble philanthropist' when he's not being Batman. So yeah, Bruce is in the middle of a big puddle and still figuring himself out.

I want the next movie to change that. After the events of TDK, he has to be dead sure of what he wants to do and who he wants to be, and his responsibility to properly be both his father's son and Gotham's savior.

Bruce has to be written like Begins it shouldn't be just Batman vs the villain.

I've got a lot of faith in Nolan as far as that goes.

Agreed. In the comics, there is no conflict for Bruce in his role of Batman. While it may be a burden for him, he knows its his burden to bear and no one elses. In fact the TAS has Bruce thinking of himself as Batman with Bruce as the mask.

The 3rd movie needs to have Bruce once and for all not only accept the fact that he is Gotham's protector as long as there is breath in his body but also embrace it his identity as the Dark Knight.

I still think WE should be kept sacrosanct. Not only because of it's financing of Batman's activities (imagine what batman would be like if WE went broke) but much like Alfred is Bruce's rock, WE serves the same role for the entire city. It's General Electric, Lockheed Martin, 3m and Pfiser and it's taken it's time through the guidance of previous Waynes to become the dominant benevolent force in the city. It's at the point where almost feudal where the citizens are vassals of WE with Bruce as lord.

I think it can really ad to the character of Bruce and the integrity of the company itself if it is one of the few major corporations to survive the economic crisis in Gotham.

Nolan did his best and gave Bruce enough things to do (dinner, cruise with dancers, lambo chase scene, beating up the thug in his penthouse, etc) but it still felt like both Bruce and Batman played second fiddle to Joker and Harvey.

I hope not. Thomas Wayne nearly bankrupted Wayne Enterprises combating poverty. We don't need that again.

Agreed. The Dark Knight was about The Joker and Harvey Dent. Not Batman and Bruce Wayne.

On the surface yes. But BB was all about Bruce Wayne and what drives him to become Batman. TDK was about Batman evolving from his perceived idea that all it takes to fight criminality is to don a disguise that fears criminals.

On a pyschological and philisophical level, TDK was just as rich as BB vis a vis Wayne/Batman.

But less interested minds will focus on the screen time and complain that Wayne/Batman had less in TDK than he did in BB.

Wayne Enterprises...Bankrupt or?
No. Not everything has to fall down to pieces. Its enough that Batman is chased by the police again.
