Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way are in the early stages of seeking material for a feature take on one or more episodes from the classic TV series "The Twilight Zone," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The trade says that the studio and production company are quietly putting out word to creators that they are looking for pitches and script ideas based on the show for feature development.

The companies are not seeking to remake an episodic movie, as the only big-screen version of the show did 25 years ago, but rather hope to build one continuing story line based on one or more episodes.

Warners owns rights to the Rod Serling-penned episodes, which comprise the bulk of its 1959-64 run.

i actually wouldnt mind another episodic movie... with different directors like speilberg involved again...
that would be insane

regardless im freakin glad to hear about a Twilight Zone project!!

i would like to see if they could make monster due on maple street . does any one rember the 80 moive? its mostly short stories. they showed it on tv land couple months ago. its really good movie. i got it taped it off tv.

NOOOOOOO!!!
Wasn't the first one bad enough!? I'm a huge fan of the show (a bigger fan than DiCaprio will ever be) and I just know they're not going to get it right. They won't be able to capture the spirit that the original show had. This just ruined my day.

Hmm, Interesting. I have so many ideas running through my head right now.

I hope they do a remake of "Will the real martian please stand up" My favorite episode and I think it could work well on screen. But it doesn't seem they want to re-make an episode.

How on earth would they make a continuing story line through many episodes? Almost every single episode is different from one another.

I guess we will see how this pans out.

EDIT: I agree with Mongoose. No one will probably be able to capture the spirit that Serling created. I did like some of the Movie, but it just didn't have that "something" that the show had.

I dont want to see a movie unless its in episodic format. i liked there being multiple tales.

Thank you, negative nancy, for that charming response. I mean, come on, I love TZ too, but how could you possibly know that they will screw it up? And how do you know that you are a "bigger fan than DiCaprio will ever be"?

Could be good. It's been a long damn time since I've seen a good multiple story movie...and I'm pretty fond of the old Twilight Zone. I say this is possible.

Without Rod Sterling Its just NOT the Twilight Zone.

Hope this project never gets made.

Interesting...they should really pick a few of the episodes that were on tv.

I kinda like the one on Mable Street
Last Man on Earth
The one were it was extremely hot and than it actually was freezing.
Telly Savalas and the doll

There are so many to pick...

Cuz I'm a total nerd with this show. I've got all the DVDs, I've got scripts, heck, I used to watch it so much, I'd think in black and white.
And if they're doing what they plan on doing, with continuing from an already-existing episode, well, doesn't that kinda take the fun away? The endings to those episodes were the part that made you think. By the time the credits came up, your mind was supposed to be swarming with possible explanations. What's the fun if they just take that away and go on?

Now that I think about it "The Monsters Due on Maple Street" would make a really good screen adaptation. The themes and the "moral" (I guess is the right word) would be perfect for a movie.

How do you guys think this movie should be done? I have a cool idea (well to me) but others will probably think it's stupid.

would love to see a TZ movie. the old series was great.

I love the original show and most importantly, if DiCaprio is involved then it is going to be a serious take, not some silly hacked out effects spectacle. He's a smart and studious guy and I'm sure he recognizes that the original was based in intelligent scripts and great acting. Looking forward to this.

He is also a big fan of the show. I think it was one of his favorite shows as a kid so I trust in him. I'd be cool if he was in it. He doesn't need to be, but if he is, awesome.
